Shooting suspect injured in police chase in Palmdale

by City News Service • September 12, 2017

PALMDALE  – A shooting suspect was injured Monday evening when he jumped from a roof while being chased by deputies in Palmdale.

Deputies heard gunshots in the area of Sixth Street East and Avenue Q-12 around 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11. Deputies went to investigate and found a woman whose car was shot but she was not injured, according to Lt. Anthony Gunn of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.

The woman directed deputies to the suspect’s vehicle and the deputies went into pursuit.

The suspect circled the neighborhood before returning to the scene of the shooting where he abandoned his vehicle and led deputies on a chase on foot, Gunn said.

At some point during the chase, the suspect climbed onto a roof and jumped while fleeing deputies, Gunn said. The man injured a knee and was taken into custody.

Gunn said the suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
