PALMDALE – The Mobile Vietnam Memorial Wall – AV Wall will be on display at the 2017 MCAS Miramar Air Show, organizers announced Monday.

The AV Wall is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., with the names of the 58,318 military members who were killed in action or declared missing in action during the Vietnam War.

“Our replica will be viewed by thousands of people who may never get a chance to visit the Memorial in Washington D.C.,” stated AV Wall President Mike Bertell. “We encourage everyone to visit our display to pay tribute to those who have given their lives in service to their country.”

The 2017 MCAS Miramar Air Show, themed “A Salute to Vietnam Veterans,” will be held Sept. 22 to 24 at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

The air show is free to the public; however, upgraded seating options are on sale now. For ticket information and up-to-date air show information, visit the Miramar Air Show website at www.miramarairshow.com.

The AV Wall will be displayed inside of the Air Show Expo Building. Vietnam Veteran lapel pin presentations will take place at The AV Wall daily at 10:15 a.m. and 1:55 p.m.

“Our goal is to remind the veterans that the country cares about them and truly values the sacrifice they made for the American people, regardless of how they were treated when they originally returned from Vietnam,” stated Col. Jason Woodworth, commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

The Miramar Air Show will also showcase the U.S. Navy Blue Angels demonstration team and the Patriots Jet Team. The line up of civilian performers includes Sean Tucker’s “Oracle Challenger,” John Collver’s “Wardog,” the Shockwave Jet Truck and Steve Stavrakakis’ “Tribute to Vets.”

More on The AV Wall
