by The AV Times Staff • August 29, 2017

GRANADA HILLS  – A 53-year-old Lancaster man was killed early Tuesday morning when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Granada Hills.

The collision was reported around 4:29 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, on the southbound 5 Freeway south of I-210, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was in the carpool lane when it slammed into a Toyota T100 truck that had previously crashed into the center divider and was “blacked out and facing sideways, blocking the HOV lane,” the CHP report states.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

The truck’s driver was not injured in the collision, according to the CHP report.

Anyone with information on this crash is encouraged to contact the CHP’s Newhall office at 661-295-5590.

UPDATED 9.1.17: The deceased has been identified as 53-year-old William Ralph Judge of Lancaster, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
