Motorcyclist killed in rear-end crash

by The AV Times Staff • March 14, 2017

LANCASTER – A 28-year-old Palmdale man died Monday evening after his motorcycle crashed into the back of an SUV in Lancaster, authorities said.

The fatal collision happened around 6 p.m. Monday, March 13, on Avenue K at 10th Street West, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

“Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicates the driver of a gray Ford Explorer was eastbound [on] Avenue K in the number one lane,” the news release states.

[LUIS MEZA]
The Ford Explorer’s driver, 45-year-old Victor Diaz of San Fernando, stopped at a red traffic light at 10th Street West and noticed a black Yamaha motorcycle traveling behind him “at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, closing rapidly,” according to the news release.

“[Diaz] tried to move forward to create distance but was rear-ended by [the motorcycle],” the news release states.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and sustained severe head trauma. He was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, but he was a black male in his 20s, coroner’s officials said Tuesday afternoon.

“Witnesses indicated [the motorcycle] was traveling between 55 and 75 miles per hour, well above the posted limit,” the sheriff’s news release states.

Investigators are asking that anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Traffic Office at 661-948-8466.

I’m in shock! I had to look it up to believe it, it makes me so angry that people could stoop so low to comment these unnecessary negative comments, be a decent human being and keep your negative pointless input to yourself. Especially after a loss, it’s called being respectful, you inconsiderate fucks should try it sometime. …Back to what’s important; TIM you were a real one, he was so damn blunt and a character to say the least, my heart goes out to his family, his life was cut so short, I used to work with him, I would always see him out, it blows my mind that he’s gone, like someone mentioned before, I’ll definitely miss his humor and his snapchats with his powdered donut addiction! It’s always an eye opener to lose someone, time is our most valuable asset, again, my heart goes out to his loved ones, stay strong!

I used to work with him years ago. Wait, I remember him. He was the kid that wanted to be a cop, but pulled out a knife on someone in the parking lot, so I heard they wouldn’t let him be a cop. Which is good, because he also told me that he was excited to be a cop because cops could shoot people’s dogs, and that he wanted to shoot someone’s dog.

When I knew him, he wasn’t a good person.

You sound real stupid this guy was wonderful person and never attended to hurt anyone. for you to speak on someone who is not on this earth anymore makes you look like real piece of sh*t. A lot of you talk big over these keyboards but deep down inside you are coward. I guess you’re parents didn’t teach you well yourself. Just keep you’re comments to yourself because remember Palmdale and Lancaster is small community.

I knew Tim. I clearly remember him talking about a girl named Desiree who used to want to be with him. He told me he blew her off because she was always getting caught having sex with coworkers, and she would frequently engage in group sex with guys at parties. Sounds like you are mad because you couldn’t get the good guy with morals that you wanted.

    Tim,

I can’t begin to explain the laughter and happiness you brought into my life! You were such an amazing spirit. A young man who never gave up on your dream. You hustled every single day, was never lazy and accomplished so much in your short life. I will miss all your powdered donut snapchats, your phone calls when stuck in elevators, and all your sick dance moves! You’ve left an impact on this valley that we are all feeling right now.
Please watch down on all of us, say hello to our friends that you are with partying your butts off in heaven!
We all miss you so much and as you always said……. Merica!
RIP my sweet sweet friend! See you soon!

Let’s not be so quick to judge. Motorcycles are machines just like automobiles and can have a mechanical malfunction such as a stuck throttle.

My sincere condolences to the family and I happen to live around the block from this young man and I can tell you he was as nice, friendly and polite as they come. When we walked our dogs I always received a polite hello from him. I will miss those hellos.

    RIP Young Man

      • you give bikers a bad name says

        March 21, 2017 at 8:59 pm

and it’s people like you that weave recklessly in between cars, speed sometimes double the limit, pop wheelies and squeeze between stopped traffic nearly taking out side mirrors, I bet it was you that brake checked me when I didn’t move to the side of my lane for you, while stopped at a light. The lane I was in was my space and you have no right to be an [removed] because you want to rule the road. If bikers wanna live dangerously and on the wild side, do it away from other people… drivers and pedestrians. no one cares about your need for speed and ownership of the road. That said, I’ve seen many cautious normal motorcyclists that drive defensively and with courtesy.

    • Who are you to judge says

      March 16, 2017 at 7:15 am

How exactly would you STOP a young person from riding a bike? You have no idea what happened. The bike could have malfunctioned, his brakes could have not worked YOU/THEY don’t know. So before you pass judgement why not just say something to the effect of I’M SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS and stop your bitter, judgemental a**hole ways.

… goo-goo, gah-gah, haven’t you heard? 28’s the new 14. The most mindless, irresponsible motorists in the history of car culture, millennials have placed themselves on the glide-path, to demerit being the first generation collectively stripped of their driver’s licenses. Face facts, baby fall down and go boom, flat refusing to grow up, this stunted, mollycoddled lost generation of Millennials have collectively proven themselves incapable of handling the responsibility of rudimentary driver discretion. A generation of Peter Pans gone berserk, run amok on the nation’s highways, inebriated, stoned out of their minds, texting while driving 400 horsepower vehicles that explode on impact, our status quo is untenable. Society has ho other viable choice, but hurry autonomous vehicles to market, save who may
