Palmdale DMV office permanently closes Feb. 10

by The AV Times Staff • February 9, 2017

LANCASTER – The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is reminding local customers that the Palmdale field office, located at 2260 East Palmdale Boulevard, Suite D, will close permanently on Friday, Feb. 10, at 12 p.m.

Customers can visit the new Lancaster field office, located at 721 West Avenue, L-6.

“The new field office provides more efficient services, with a larger lobby, additional work stations and more customer parking. The new facility also has two Driver Safety Hearing officers who preside over driver safety administrative hearings,” according to a news release by the DMV.

The new Lancaster office opened to the public Feb. 6.

The DMV is reminding customers that it offers many online services at www.dmv.ca.gov, which will save them a trip to a DMV field office.

A few of the convenient options include renewing a vehicle registration and driver license, completing a change of address, requesting a driver record, and making an appointment.

CHL Insurance agency offers DMV services if anyone needs it! We can renew tags, do title transfer and we’re located on Palmdale BLVD on 10th st East.

New DMV is a complete joke. Why would we condense 2 already over crowded DMV’s. Yes, it is new. BUT parking still sucks and so does the service.. pointless to make an appointment.

The location is odd. Who owned the land? Is it part of the land that was owned by Gilley and Visco that the city of Lancaster payed $8 million to install a culvert?

Lancaster has the court house, the prison, the DMV, etc.

They can have them as long as Palmdale has the shopping, recreation, entertainment and dining.

How often do you need to go to Lancaster for anything? And, then there are the thrift stores and auto wrecking yards that make Lancaster so desirable.

Doesn’t really matter. One can take care of most DMV issues ‘online’ or at the AAA.
I see the DMV, every five years or so, for License renewal.

Finally Lancaster wins one!!!!!!!! Can we call that a win?

So we combine two overcrowded offices into one. Those of us who live in Palmdale, Littlerock and Lake LA now have to go all the way into the west side of Lancaster. Government mismanagement in all its glory!

Well, the one actually is bigger than the two put together were, so maybe it won’t be as bad as you think. But it is the DMV so it will probably be worse.

Get a member ship at AAA of Southern California and you can have almost all of your DMV needs taken care of there. I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately that’s in west Lancaster too. So Palmdale, Littlerock, and Lake LA still have to go far.

Keep pushing. Businesses in Lancaster pull up stakes and move to Palmdale on a pretty regular basis. We can hope that AAA joins in at some point. Problem is that I think that is sort of a “regional” office serving everyone all the way out to I guess Ridgecrest and maybe beyond, so they might think they need to stay that few miles north…though everyone I know from Ridgecrest shops in Palmdale if they come down here anyway.
