Palmdale man killed in Lake LA crash

by The AV Times Staff • December 5, 2016

fatal crashLAKE LOS ANGELES – A 45-year-old Palmdale man died Monday morning in a three-vehicle collision in Lake Los Angeles, authorities said.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, on Avenue O near 152nd Street East, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The Palmdale man was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Metro eastbound on Avenue O, directly behind a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, and both vehicles were approaching the intersection with 152nd Street East, the CHP report states.

The Jetta stopped at the intersection because its driver was making a left turn, but the Palmdale man was unable to stop his vehicle and veered it to the left, crashing into the left rear corner of the Jetta, according to the CHP report.

He then lost control of the vehicle and entered the westbound lane, where he was struck by a 2011 Kia Forte that was traveling westbound on Avenue O, the CHP report states.

The Metro’s driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

The driver of the Volkswagen Jetta — Teresa C. Vasquez, 26, of Palmdale — was treated at the scene and released. The driver of the Kia Forte — Rebecca E. Diaz, 25, of Palmdale – was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with minor injuries, according to the CHP report.
