Local authorities warn of clown prank

by City News Service • October 5, 2016

LANCASTER – Authorities in Lancaster are warning people to be aware of a new “prank” involving a group of males approaching pedestrians while wearing clown masks and possibly carrying kitchen knives.

“At this time, our station is aware of three individual incidents throughout the city,” said a statement issued by the sheriff’s Lancaster Station.

“In all three incidents, there was nothing taken from the victims and it appears that the group of suspects is only trying to scare the victims,” the statement said.

There have also been reports of “scare tactic” style videos appearing online, the sheriff’s department reported.

“As we approach Halloween, we remind our citizens to stay aware of their surroundings and to call our station at 661-948-8466 should they be a victim of an incident like this,” the statement said.

In case of any emergency, residents were advised to call 911.

An Instagram account titled “wearecomingtocali” appeared to be warning viewers of where clown pranks would be happening next, and included Palmdale in its list of cities. Local authorities have not acknowledged the social media account, and it is unclear if it is associated with the clown pranks happening in Lancaster.

What if it’s a pie spatula???

      • troll hunter says

        October 6, 2016 at 9:57 am

I did say KNIFE…per the article’s comment about some carrying KNIVES. Like I also said, if one wants to play a stupid game; chasing or threatening people with a KNIFE, then they best be prepared for any consequences from doing so. If a pie spatula is mistaken for a knife and one of the clowns gets put down, tough luck. Read up on the Tueller Drill. They may have been “right” in playing their stupid game, but they might also be quite dead…2 people’s/families lives are ruined over a stupid “prank”.

Prank or not, those fools are terrorizing children and women with their antics. There appears to be a complete lack of discretion or good judgment on their part, bordering on sadism to inflict psychological pain through terror. Save it for the fun house on Halloween.

Pretty dumb to be carrying knives. All it takes is a concealed carry or person with a gun that feels their life is in danger, and bad day for bozo.

These people are stupid, immature jerks who have nothing better to do with their lives than make a**holes of themselves. Here’s a thought: go volunteer at the animal shelter/pet rescue. Go help an elderly neighbor with shopping or yard work. Visit someone in the hospital or offer to serve food at the local homeless shelter or center for vitims of domestic violence. Raise money to buy toys for kids battling cancer at Children’s Hospital in LA or St. Judes Research center. Parents: if your idiot teenager is out doing this crap, grab him/her by the ear and make them do someething useful with their brains and put their lazy butts to work. Irresponsible, weak parents are the reason this happens and is at the root of the criminals they turn out to be later in life. If one of my kids dared to frighten someone with a knife (even a plastic one), they would lose every privilege imaginable except basic, bland food that they had to cook themselves, a blanket and pillow to sleep on the floor and a jacket to wear while WALKING to WORK. We have raised a generation if spoiled brats who think smart phones, computers and the internet are some kind of right.

110% agreed. And if those dum-nuts must be a clown, he or she could at least come up with original costumes instead of ripping off Stephen King’s clown PENNYWISE from his hit book: It.

Not only just clowns, but it could be a crazy person that wears a different mask rather than scary clowns and carrying a mean clever or machete which is very more dangerous than a regular kitchen knife. So never try to go outside such as going to the store to buy something at night because they are all waiting for you. Be warned about yourself and your surroundings.

You thought before there is no evil clowns in real-life, but now some of them are spotted in CA especially they first spotted in Bakersfield. Now they are coming to AV. Please be very very careful while you walk outside.
