Palmdale man killed in solo crash

by The AV Times Staff • September 6, 2016

fatal crashPALMDALE – A man died Monday morning after his vehicle veered off the road and crashed, authorities said.

Roland James Roy, 23, of Palmdale was killed in a single-vehicle collision that occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, near the intersection of 28th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard, according to coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Roy was driving west on Rancho Vista Boulevard, approaching 28th Street West, when his vehicle “suddenly veered across eastbound lanes of travel and struck a curb, trees and a light pole,” according to a news release from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.

Roy was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.

Rancho Vista Boulevard, from 30th to 20th Street West, was closed for about five hours during the collision scene investigation, which concluded around 11:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, the news release states.

Very sad. I was there and witnessed the whole accident. I tried to help him, but there was nothing anybody could do. It won’t bring him back, but I want the family to know that he did not pass alone. There were people there talking to him and praying for him. My condolences to the family.

My heart aches for this family, and his friends, I frequent his place of employment and he was always, polite, eager to please, happy, and a genuinely wonderful human being.

I didn’t know this young man such a sad thing to happen to such a young vibrant human being. May you family and friends be comforted in knowing that one day you will all be re United again. God is in control many times we just do not understand why these things happen. We have to grieve move foward in time and remember the good times that you had together and cherish them forever. Always tell people you love how you feel because tomorrow is not promised. May RJ’s family and friends be blessed and stay strong throughout this trying time in this life . I to saw this collision on my way in the morning. I am so very sorry for all of your loss.

This is so tragic, RJ knew my daughter from work for a very short time,
But he left a big impression on her. We live just a few houses away and walked up to leave a beautiful red rose in honor of this young, sweet man!
    RIP young man!
