LANCASTER – A man was shot multiple times Monday night in Lancaster and pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, in the 44000 block of Gingham Avenue, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
“Deputies responded to the area regarding a ‘shots fired’ call,” the news release states. “When they arrived on scene, they discovered a trail of blood that led to the backyard of a residence. They followed the trail and located an unconscious man who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Deputies immediately performed CPR on the victim.”
The wounded man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The victim is a black male in his 30s, coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Tuesday morning. His name is being withheld pending family notification, Winter added.
There is no suspect information at this time, and the investigation is ongoing, sheriff’s officials said.
Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Informants wishing to supply information anonymously should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or at http://lacrimestoppers.org.
UPDATED 8.27.16: The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Yves Stone, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Wow unbelievable this is not a section 8 debate, nor is it a black, white., Hispanic or Asian matter. This kid is somebody’s son, possibly somebody’s father, a brother and was shot and killed and everyone’s on a tangent about race or politics, section 8 WTF do you have any idea how you all sound. Ridiculous, I’m a white lady I have a felony on my record and broke as a joke not on section 8 and barely making it not thrilled with today’s politicians or law enforcement and none of that has anything to do with this story regarding this kid who was shot and killed. How sad that not one person regardless of this person’s passed hasnt said RIP to the one who lost their life. How sad are we as a society that your all so jaded that you lost your compassion for another person who lost their life and a family who may be devastated that they lost someone. Or maybe he didn’t have anyone in the world but that matters more than everyone who discussing section 8 or it’s a black thing or a white thing. Please reread the story above and everyone’s argument below it, it’s like your on a completely different story completely.. Seriously

He/She had representation where they came from! But they came here willingly I’m sure. I as a Chicano/Iatino do not move to their areas and demand representation Let them go back or go find somewhere else. Tired of the drama and issues they bring to this community. Tired of the demands! go be someone else’s problem.
Still Not Chorizo says
“Let them go back or go find somewhere else. Tired of the drama and issues they bring to this community.” This is exactly what they were saying! They want someone to address the issues they deem important to them, instead of people like you who deny them that and tell people who have legitimate concerns to go away. Shame on you sir.
Not Chorizo says
“Tired of demands! go be someone else’s problem.” You sound like our good old AV politicians. You’re saying that if someone isn’t from an area they do not deserve representation. I’m not from Washington D.C, yet I deserve representation in congress, because I am a person with rights. Jeez, educate yourself.
Angry says
What are you trying to say you don’t even know the story so don’t judge it’s not your job.

Police don’t plant dope on innocent people, and certainly not 3 times.
Sounds like another BLM who refuses to take responsibility for their actions and instead blames law enforcement for their communities problems.
Police dream of the day where they don’t have any calls for service and can’t find anyone in violation of the law while on patrol.
The reality is that a disproportionate amount of their time is spent trying to mitigate the rampant crime that is created by many members of the black community. Many of these members will also kill the officers simply for accosting them, creating an environment where they must always be on their toes.
Tim Scott says
LOL…police don’t plant dope on people…let me guess…you KNOW because you’ve “never seen them do it.”
You are just a random speculator spouting what you HOPE is true but have absolutely no way to actually know. That’s a big part of the problems with law enforcement…sycophants like you who would rather just live in hope than see any investigation of your designated heroes.
Laughing says
PO1 – Hey I grabbed enough weed here to plant on four people today. Who will we choose?
PO2 – Oh I don’t know. Let’s randomly choose someone of color and plant it on them.
Yeah, do not see that happening very often.
Tim Scott says
Randomly? Probably not.
I read a case one time…guy was a major drug trafficker, which he had no particular reason to deny at the time. He had been under investigation by the DEA for months, and they had nothing on him. They did have a picture of a woman coming and going from his house, who he had met in a bar and brought home and banged. Turned out she was married to a cop, and since the DEA was working wit local law enforcement that no doubt got back to the cop. Not long after the DEA dropped their surveillance on the guy because it just wasn’t working. Shortly after that this guy, who had mystified the DEA for MONTHS, got caught by local PD with a brick of coke in his refrigerator on an “anonymous tip.” He let the cops in because, apparently, he just forgot there was a brick of coke in his refrigerator. He claimed it was a plant, and he suspected the cop with the straying wife…but what the heck, he was in fact a drug trafficker so all’s well that ends well.
Wanna spend a day buying me coffee? I could tell you a hundred similar stories, though admittedly planted bags don’t feature in many of them. The cops are not the good guys everyone hopes they are.

NOT REPRESENTED says
Tom Lackey:Rich and White
Rex Parris: Rich and White
Scott Wilk: Rich and White
Steve Knight: Rich and White
If you think minorities are represented by this make up of our politicians then you’re wrong. Minorities are not represented in the AV.
Shane Falco says
I wouldn’t say Lackey, Wilk or Knight are “rich”, but they are most certainly white, no debate there.
Perhaps a place like Detroit is more to your liking if you want minority run cities with minorities as the majority. They are heavily democratic in voting, run the school districts and the schools and are receiving government subsidies too.
I have the feeling that the majority of constituents in the Lackey, Wilk, Knight and Parris areas don’t want Detroit in the AV.
Tim Scott says
Detroit suffers more from the Republican lead government of Michigan than any local government can overcome…just like without the prosperous economy of California Wrecks and his cronies would probably not find enough loot in Lancaster to make it worth their while.
Shane Falco says
Sure, it’s those republicans that have torn down neighborhoods and turned the city into something out of a third world nation. They obviously have done the same to Chicago and its schools and neighborhoods too.
Inner city republicans committing crimes, not working and ruining their communities….
Rick says
Darren Parker – Rich and Black
Henry Hearns – Rich and Black
V. Jesse Smith – Rich and Black
Emmett Murrell – Rich and Black
Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson … They’ve all claimed to care about the black community in this community –
Black on Black crime and violence. A senseless tragedy and just as senseless, shifting the blame towards white politicians. How do you want to be represented? You demand justice but demonize at the same time. So let me ask you, what has any of our local black leaders and activists accomplished for the black community? They only get involved when the story fits their agenda. A black man shot, not by the police and left to die in a backyard is not important enough to get involved or raise a stink in the media. BLM – Only if it has massive media coverage potential.

Tom Lacky wrote the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act (MMRSA) of 2016 to regulate the COMMERCIAL FOR PROFIT CULTIVATION of Medical Cannabis (MediCan). previous to this only non-profit organization did the distribution of MediCan products – this means they were untaxed since 2006 as law makers did nothing to regulate Cannabis distribution. after seeing the huge revenues being pulled by the Cannabis industry in other states via full legalization, Tom Lackey did generate the MMRSA – THAT HE DIRECTED AT THE NON PROFIT distribuators w the intention of REDIRECTING the MMRSA APPLYING THOSE DISTRIBUTION AND REGULAION LAWS TO FOR PROFIT COMMERCIAL GROWERS. in those regulations there was a dead line whereby IF THERE WAS NO TAXIATION STRUCTURE COMMUNITIUES WOULD FORFIT TAX REVENUES – this inactivity by the ANTONOVITCH/BARGER led LACO BoS to ban completely the distribution of MediCan products in the AV cutting of thousands of seriously disabled and ill Medican patients over money. this post is a lead in to the one Q: if T Lackey is so intrestedf in MediCan…then WHY did he accept almost $10.000 from the tobbaco industry??? we have young people who are mixing cannabis w tobacco and this is well known by the tobacco industry – why would LACKEY write laws to “protect us” then take money from an industry whose product KILLS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE every year? a product smoked w Cannibis by MILLIONS of our youth – we need to see what local pols are doing here in the AV. We the People need to act quickly to take back the AV. JOIN the AV Cannabis Chamber of Commerce (FB pg) so we can work together for elected official accountability. 818.454.6675
Tired and accepting says
Being a minority that lives on the Eastside, I have come to terms with the fact that people like Tom Lackey, Scott Wilk and Rex Parris genuinely do not care about me or other people like me. Tom Lackey cheats on his wife, his Chief of Staff sexually harassed female employees in 2014, Wilk takes Porn industry money, and Rex Parris just doesn’t care. Basically if you’re not white and rich, you have no place in Lancaster or the rest of the AV.
GetSomeRespect says
It’s unfortunate that no one has respect or compassion for the young person that has lost his life. I’m sure no matter weather he was on section 8, reviewing benefits, employed or unemployed, white, black, Hispanic, Asian, that he had a family that loves him, he is someone’s Son, brother, friend or associate! Some of you really need to soul search, imagine this was you! That’s it, take s moment and imagine this was a loved one you can’t see yourself living without!
Section 8? Compton? Really? Get a life while u can…
Lover says
What does Section 8, or Compton have to do with a shooting in Lancaster?
MVI says
People believe that section 8 housing brings in crime, so they are blaming the shooting on section 8 housing.
INFO says
Some people believe that a big percent of people on sec 8 are just lazy don’t want to work and they really don’t care about educating there kids they are rude and sell dope they have the gov assistance and can afford expensive cars etc. Some most of the crimes its believed to come from those areas ??
Carla says
Im on section 8…im an Lvn have been for 11 years working on my Rn as we speech and both my grown kids are in college…and Im still broke….so…idk what all the assumptions are about or why one cares if someone is section 8, black, white..whatever…God put us all hear…everyone has a right to their opinion but why does everything turn into a black white…truth is ever race on this earth do wrong and evil things…Face it….just make sure yourself is in order

Tim Scott says
Don’t let the door hit you in the butt…better hurry.
valleygirl says
Really Tim? Maybe you haven’t lived in the AV long enough to understand the difference between a good neighbor and the guy next door who is selling drugs or hacking off his ankle bracelet and disappearing into the dark side of the AV. Most of the small business base that put this valley on the map has bailed for the safety of anywhere but the AV and CA. Otherwise, you are just another scammer exercising selective myopia. Glad I’m out of that cesspool.
Matt_K says
Oh please! More Republican carping….
The small business base “left” because the valley grew up. And when a place grows up, its needs change. Small business is a great thing to have, if they adhere to supply and demand. The valley is no longer just an exurban farm community, it is a full-fledged suburban region of metropolitan Los Angeles! It needs better planning and more diverse industry. Some of our leaders understand that and others don’t.
A lot of the people that “left”, like Jim Gilley, Frank Visco, et. al. had a hand in growing the valley and in the lack of horrible lack of planning that occurred here. They used it as their “cash cow” and moved on to other places while leaving a mess for the rest of us to deal with.
As someone who loves this valley, I’m here for the long haul and will do my part to make it nicer and more tolerable. All of you haters can leave for Idaho, Arizona or wherever the hell it is you think is “paradise”. We’re better off without your reactionary and negative thinking, as far as I’m concerned.
Tim Scott says
Most of fifty-five years. I think that should be long enough. Oddly, I don’t miss you. Glad you’re gone.
Tim Scott says
Good on you Matt! I’ll take one of you for a hundred of them…a thousand of them.
Love Lancaster says
I love Lancaster! the Section 8 housing availability is so plentiful due to the city of Lancaster policy of not putting a cap on it. I love you Lancaster and former residents of Compton that move up here too. Tell all you’re friends and family that you can get more bang for your section 8 voucher buck up here in Lancaster!
Tiffany says
Don’t be a [removed] dude! Talk crap bout ppl who don’t have financial freedoms! Suck it twice with your rude ass! You obviously don’t know the Sec 8program.. So keep your mouth closed before you insert your other foot!
Les says
Don’t you remember both Lancaster and Palmdale being sued because they were accused of being to stringent in enforcing Section 8 compliance?
It’s also up to the owner of the property whether they want to rent to Section 8 or not the city has zero say in it. Blame the federal government who has let this taxpayer funded program get totally out of control.
The mouth that roared says
I blame the big fat mouth that declared war on Section 8 and caused the lawsuit. I blame the big fat mouth that went to war on gangs and targeted pit bulls. I blame the big fat mouth that called an African American military veteran a “gang candidate”. I blame the big fat mouth that says that bird sounds lower crime. I blame the big fat mouth that says a $10 million spy plane will keep us safe.
This once proud city has gone down the toilet.
Rego says

DrVanNostren says
I am pretty sure the federal overlords do not allow cities to cap it and I know for sure that HUD will be calling if you say you don’t take section 8.
Tim Scott says
Bull. Getting a property approved for section 8 is a battle. NO ONE makes anyone take section 8.
Samantha Smith says
U are right they are some hater they don’t want section8 out here anyway it hard to find section 8 house n Lancaster/ Palmdale because they don’t wanna the police tear they houses up.
Rick says
Yeah, I’ve yet to see the Police tear up a Section 8 house – Most of the ‘residents’ have that area handled. They are experts at trashing their free rentals – Then they move on to the next one. The cops barely ever broke doors, as the doors were usually broken too. First thing to is the front yards followed by a facination to remove all the window screens and leave them scattered in the yard. Never saw a cop do anything but respond to calls for problems at Section 8 homes. Bit I digress. It is what it is.
Tim Scott says
LOL…so YOU are that hall monitor following the police around? I freely admit that I “have yet to see the police tear up a section eight house”…but since I don’t really follow them around much that doesn’t mean that they don’t.
What I do know is that they did a fair amount of damage serving a warrant at my mother’s house…on someone that no one in my family had ever heard of who apparently picked her address out of a hat and used it enough that when the cops went looking for them they called her house the “home of record.”
When I considered complaining about the damage I was “gently” reminded that making enemies at the sheriff’s department when they knew where my mother’s house was would be a bad idea, so I quietly made the repairs myself.
That inclines me to believe people who say “the cops tore up my house” more than I believe the badged thugs who deny it…or their sycophantic self proclaimed hall monitors.
Rick says
Tim, you just need to be inclined to drink the Flavorade one of these days. I’m no hall monitor, as you pretty much have all aspects of that covered. Interesting how you belittle law enforcement at every angle but are prob first to call for help when things get a tad rocky in your little world.
Tim Scott says
Rick joins the random speculators. I live by the assumption that there is no situation so bad that calling the cops won’t make it worse, so, no, you are as is so often the case flat out wrong.
But of course you don’t care about your credibility, so making random guesses about things you have no way of knowing is just part of what I expect from you.
