PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale’s Art Committee, in partnership with local Girl Scouts, is seeking participants for an art contest in which the winning entries will be displayed at Gabriel’s House, one of the city’s Neighborhood Houses.
“Would you like to display your original art on the wall at Gabriel’s House?” asked Community Services Coordinator Trish Jones. “We are soliciting submissions for wall art to be installed on the backyard walls of Gabriel’s House.”
To enter the contest, participants must complete a full color sketch of their original wall art on 8.5”x11” paper and mail or deliver it with full name, email address and daytime phone number to:

Deadline for submission is Friday, Aug. 5.
Selected artists will be provided with a wall section to complete their original art piece. Selected works must be completed by Aug. 28, 2016.

“Gabriel’s House,” located at 38553 4th Street East in Palmdale, is the city’s third Neighborhood House. It was named in memory of eight-year-old Gabriel Fernandez, who was tragically killed in 2013 after prolonged child abuse. “Gabriel’s House” serves as a music, visual and performing arts center to provide children in the area with the opportunity to develop their creative talents.
