PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale recently won two awards for its SAVES/UAV Foodie Challenge Video and Used Oil Recycling PSA.

The awards came from the Southern California and Nevada Chapter of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors, a nonprofit professional organization serving local governments and regional authorities in the development, regulation, and administration of cable franchises and other telecommunications systems. A recognition ceremony was held at the Queen Mary in Long Beach for the organization’s 20th Anniversary titled, “Charting the Course.”

Palmdale received first place in the “Best Use of Animation or Motion Graphics” category for its Used Oil Recycling PSA and third place in the “Promotion Under $400k” category for its SAVES/UAV Foodie Challenge video, where the Culinary Arts School at the University of the Antelope Valley was challenged to turn donated food into meals for SAVES to highlight the importance of donating food versus throwing it away.

“These videos were a result of partnerships between various city departments and outside agencies including Communications, Public Works, SAVES, Neighborhood Services and the University of Antelope Valley,” said Palmdale’s Communications Specialist Armin Gomez.

“This recognition demonstrates the great spirit of collaboration between many city employees and what can be accomplished by working together,” added Administrative Analyst Ben Lucha.

The city’s television programs are cablecast on Palmdale’s Channel 27 on Time Warner Cable. Channel 27 original programming can also be viewed on the city’s website at www.cityofpalmdale.org and the city’s YouTube channel, CityofPalmdale.
