Palmdale man killed in Compton shooting

by The AV Times Staff • May 19, 2016

COMPTON – The man shot and killed while riding a bike in Compton last week has been identified as 26-year-old Anthony Alexander of Palmdale, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The shooting occurred around 5:20 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in the 400 block of West Caldwell Street in Compton, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“Detectives have learned that Compton Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the location regarding an ‘assault with a deadly weapon/gunshot victim’ call. When deputies arrived, they found a male victim lying in the middle of the street,” the news release states. “The victim was apparently riding his bike on Caldwell Street when unknown person(s) shot him multiple times in the torso.”

Alexander was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation and no suspect information is available at this time, sheriff’s officials said.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.

Why does this innocent mrder victim’s body still lie in the Los Angeles Morgue over one week after he was shot to death on his bicycle? Shame on the Sheriff’s Department who never told his famlly, his loving mother, that funeral and burial expenses can be paid by the State Victims of Crime Compensation Program! The family and friends have had their grief multiplied because they cannot afford proper funeral so they have had to attempt fundraising, donations and held BBQ’s but still cannot raise enough for even basic costs of Anthony’s passing. If Sheriffs Deputies had done their job and showed respect for this young African American boy, the family could have honored their son and begun healing.

DISGUSTING!! A bunch of cowards you are to shoot a man and leave him in the street. There’s a special place in hell for evil people like you. I pray for the family of the victim.
