The biker was riding southbound on Business Center Parkway at an unknown speed when he drove onto the raised center median and lost control of the motorcycle, officials said in the news release.

“The driver collided with a light pole and was ejected from the motorcycle, which continued traveling southbound colliding into a tree before coming to rest,” the news release states. “The driver was fatally injured at the scene and was discovered sometime later by a passerby.”

He was later identified as Lancaster resident Hamza Mohamed Shabaan, according to Investigator Anthony Lopez of the coroner’s office.

It was unknown why Shabaan lost control of the motorcycle, officials said.

“The driver’s sobriety is unknown at this time,” the news release states.

I heard about this and it shocked me. I met Hamza once and he taught me more in one painful night than I had ever learned from anyone. We taught each other about life religion and family. Parents and sons. Space and music. He taught me that the life we enjoy is only mirrored by the actions we take and the impact we create. I felt a connection to Hamza. He was like an older me or parallel universe me. It was like meeting myself all over again. We talked about his band and how I wanted to join just for the hell of it and we talked about our bikes. We talked about girls and booze and what matters most to us. It was a moment where the world didn’t seem so slow and where I felt like I can actually talk to someone and they would listen and understand what I was saying. Like I wasn’t the only person in the world who thought the way I do. We’ll [removed] A hamza. I miss you man and like you said efore you dropped me off at school, “Spirits like ours meet again, maybe not today or tomorrow but something tells me we’ll see each other again and we’ll talk like we’ve known each other our whole live.” [removed] a man. I met Hamza in 10th grade, we sat next to each other in history class. I have so many good memories with him :) he called me Mahogany. He asked me what size pants I wore, turned out we were the same size so he wanted my white jeans. Lol. I wanted to be part of his band Si Senor… but he told me no lol. Him and his friend Alex (I believe that was his name, also part of the band) would talk about making an island, of course I wanted to come along, he said he would think about it. I lived like 5 houses away I would always hear his band :). He told me a little bit about his background, I wasn’t sure if he spoke spanish though since he never spoke it around me. Until one day he told me, ‘te voy a pegar en la cabeza” I was laughing soo hard!!!! It was hilarious to me!!! Such great times I will always cherish those memories. R.I.P. Hamza

Thank you for your kind words. Hamza was indeed an amazing kid. I can’t imagine living a life without my baby boy, I can only take one day at a time. Hamza left us a gift; we taught us all to love, laugh, enjoy life. Omar his brother keeps reminding me this is how we should continue living. Thank you kindly.

Hamza, you are one of the nicest kids my daughter Lacy grew up with! Your outlook on life and genuine respect for others is some of the many, many reasons why when we look up AWESOME in the dictionary…it will say “Hamza”! My heart is deeply saddened by this tragedy and I DO hope the investigation is thorough. I pray for strength and comfort for his family and friends as they deal with this difficult time.

It’s hard for me to believe that Hamza would just lose control of his bike and ride into the median. I believe he was an experienced, skilled driver. I just can’t comprehend how this could’ve happened? It doesn’t make any kind of sense? If he lost control, why didn’t he let up on the gas to slow down, some? I’m hoping that they do a thorough investigation. .. Perhaps, locate some security cameras in the area? It’s devastating that he’s been taken, at such a young age. Even worse, not knowing all of the circumstances involved. He was one of the good guys. RIP, Hamza.
