“Adopt-a-Block: Hammack Neighborhood” set for Saturday

clean up Palmdale season of servicePALMDALE – The city of Palmdale’s 2016 “Season of Service” continues this Saturday, April 2, with an “Adopt-a-Block: Hammack Neighborhood” project to be held in the area around the city’s Hammack Neighborhood House, located at 1012 East Avenue Q-5, in Palmdale.

Registration will take place at the Hammack Neighborhood House from 8 to 8:30 a.m., and the event will run from 8:30 a.m. to approximately noon.

Residents are invited to join city staff and community partners from the Palmdale Dream Center, AV YouthBuild, Advancing Communities Together (ACT) and New Image Church in sprucing up the neighborhood.

“You can make your city a better place to live with just a few hours of your time in a project such as this,” stated Palmdale Community Programs Supervisor Trish Jones. “If this particular event doesn’t work for you, or you’re not sure what you’re interested in, give us a call at 661-267-5473 and we can help you identify your areas of interest with a potential need,” Jones added. “Or visit us online at www.cityofpalmdale.org/Engaged.”

The remaining 2016 Season of Service events include:

Global Youth Service Day – Saturday, April 16
Youth and the young at heart will join with youth around the world in celebrating International Global Youth Service Day by giving back to their community.
Community Partners: Youth Service America/State Farm
Location: To be determined
Time: 8-8:30 a.m. registration; 8:30 a.m. project begins.

Stamp Out Hunger – Saturday, May 14
Partner with local letter carriers for the 23rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Food assists local families in need.
Community Partner: United States Postal Service
Location: SAVES, 1002 East Avenue Q-12, Palmdale
Time: Varies
