LAKE LOS ANGELES – An online fundraiser has been set up to help cover funeral expenses for Guillermo “Boy” Carrillo, the 49-year-old man struck and killed by a hit-and-run motorist in Lake Los Angeles on March 5.

Carrillo’s sudden death has devastated his family and friends, according to his niece, Priscilla Iturriaga.

“Boy was a kind hearted man, always cracking jokes, bringing joy to those around him,” Iturriaga said. “We are with heavy hearts, reaching out asking for donations to help lay my uncle to rest.”

On Saturday, March 5, Carrillo was walking on or near the roadway on Avenue N-8, just west of 167th Street East, when he was struck by a 1990 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, which drove away from the scene, the CHP reported.

CHP officers were dispatched about 9 p.m when Carrillo’s body was spotted by a passing motorist, who called 911.

Anyone who witnessed this incident is encouraged to call the CHP’s Antelope Valley office at 661-948-8541.

I’m so sorry for their loss. I avoid walking around at night, myself, because of that very fact. When I do go for walks, I notice a lot of beer bottles and cans. A lot of people are driving drunk out here because they think they can get away with it.
