Lancaster resident Richard Olmsted won the PGA Tour Volunteer Challenge at the recent Northern Trust Open in Pacific Palisades.

The “vote-for-me” competition is designed to raise funds for charity while recognizing the commitment of the Tour’s more than 100,000 tournament volunteers nationwide.

To participate in the program, tournament volunteers encouraged their friends and family to vote for them online as their favorite Northern Trust Open volunteer.

At the end of the voting period, the votes were tallied and Olmsted was designated as the winner.

As the PGA Tour Volunteer Challenge winner, Olmsted had the opportunity to present a check for $10,000 to his charity of choice – City of Hope.

The honor was extra special for Olmstead, a seven-year prostate cancer survivor currently under the care of a City of Hope urologist.
