Robbers hit marijuana dispensary, clerk shot

LITTLEROCK – A clerk was shot in the stomach Thursday afternoon during an armed robbery at a medical marijuana dispensary in Littlerock, authorities said.

A second victim was pistol whipped in the head and a third victim was ordered to the floor, where he was kicked and punched, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The robbery happened around 4:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, in the 7300 block of Pearblossom Highway.

Three to five men – two of them armed with semiautomatic handguns — stole cash, cellphones, marijuana and a computer hard-drive, sheriff’s officials said.

The suspects were wearing “black hoodie-type jackets and masks covering their faces,” according to the sheriff’s news release.

“The dispensary employee was shot in the stomach by one of the suspects as they fled the dispensary out of the back door,” the news release states. “The suspects entered a white car and fled in an unknown direction.”

All three victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment, and they are listed in stable condition, sheriff’s officials said.

The incident is under investigation by the Palmdale Station Detective Bureau and Operation Safe Streets personnel.

  1. Had the owner pulled out a shotgun and handled business, this story would read a lot different. Instead pf closing something voters clearly said they wanted, you should be asking why your county officials have done NOTHING to solve the crime/gang issues. They hide behind these stories to cover their own failures of providing protection and services to their own citizens. As long as they manage to convince you dispensaries are the problem, the longer they get to suck off the county tit of tax dollars without doing their own job. And if you are one of those parents who raised one of these little thugs to think this is ok, you are just as guilty and worthless as the ones who did it. Who knows, my name might be on that computer. I dare them to even come near my house. They’ll all leave in a body bag which is what should have happened with this story. As for taxes, I pay them. 42% of my personal income to be exact. If you took EIC credit, Please spare me of calling yourself a taxpayer…cause you didn’t pay any. As for a job…I provide 315 of them to you sorry high desert losers. Now. If I want to smoke for migraines, I can. When you start paying my bills, running my company, paying my taxes, then you can stick your little nose into how I medicate. Until then, it’s really none of your business who smokes and why. And that drives you people insane that you don’t get to tell the rest of the world what to do. Worry about your own pathetic life and stay out of others. Of course if we wanted to get technical, the same little ass on here complaining about weed, probably has a medicine arsenal in his own bathroom with god only knows what.

    • The cruel reality of the “legal in California” business goes like thisa twenty-eight year minimum federal sentence.. If law enforcement decides that something merits federal attention, like a shootout in a dispensary for example, then they call in the feds. Distribution, ten years. Conspiracy to distribute, ten years. Possession of a firearm while distributing, eight years. Those are the minimums, so the hypothetical story of pulling out a shotgun and handling business ends with twenty-eight years plus in federal prison.

      • Is there no limit to the ignorance this guy spews? Back to reality now:our local cops don’t just “call in the feds” on any case. If they really had a chummy relationship like that, do you think the DOJ would have been up here sticking their nose in the past couple years implementing their so called “changes?” Example :bank robberies are a federal crime. When is the last time you heard of the feds arresting a bank robber? It’s LASD, LAPD and other local cops doing the work. Oh yeah, an FBI rep will show up for the press conference but that’s about it. Most cops I’m sure couldn’t care less about losers smoking tree in their homes, as long as they don’t drive or create other drama. But, when we have shootings and other drama that ties up our local LE, then they need to be shut down.

        • If you weren’t so intent on trying to disagree with me you would see that we said the exact same thing. If the robbery had turned into a shootout it would have turned into “call the feds and get this guy out of here for good.”

          Go watch the proceedings in federal court. The feds hand out time in HUGE chunks. When the cops want to get rid of someone flushing them into the federal system is a fine way to do it.

          In this hypothetical where the dispensary guy whips out a shotgun and “handles business” the local cops would have a hard time even being able to fight their way past a self defense claim. But handing it to the feds makes a 28 year slam dunk. You think they wouldn’t do that?

          • No Timmy, your ignorance is showing again. As I said, local cops don’t call in the feds, the feds cherry pick what cases they will take. They are at the press conference to pat themselves on the back after local cops do the heavy lifting, but in this case, the feds don’t give 2 $hits about your hypothetical shoot out at a weed dispensary. Distribution with a firearm doesn’t apply to tree. Any business owner is within his rights to kill thugs who come in armed and attempting a robbery. My beef is with your ilk who promised unicorns and rainbows if “weed was legalized” but instead we have ghetto rats with guns shooting up the place and therefore causing a waste of hundreds of hours of police time trying to solve a crime where there were no real victims.   3. Another reason to ban these drug dispensaries. Marijuana makes people ignorant sloths with no ambition. We taxpayers end up supporting the marijuana addicts with Section 8 and endless other welfare programs, plus having them break into our cars and homes.

      its not nice to generalize i use to work in a revenue agency and i can tell you only 2% of all your $ end up paying for helping other(welfare programs ) 5% goes to the city (for street repair+more)then 1% is for clean water (program )then the rest is our salary 235 000$ twice a years…. but you can blame the poor people for that ……really blame yourself for not doing anything to change that

    You know if this country would just legalize Marijuana across the entire nation the dispensaries would not be tucked away but on main places like liquor stores cigarette stores etc.

    • This, like the other 6 dispensaries on Hwy 138 (I counted them myself on Sunday), are not hidden off some back alley. With the exception of 1 or 2 their entrances are visible from the highway. This also goes for the one on Sierra Hwy just north of Pearblossom. Thankfully the other on Sierra Hwy that was robbed twice has closed.
      It may not be the dispensary customers that are the problem but it’s a far too tempting business to rob, burglarize etc. and it puts the surrounding businesses and neighborhoods in jeopardy.

  11. As long as the government continues to allow MMJ to exist as both a black market product and a legal product, this will happen. Legalize it, allow marijuana industries access to the banking system. And sure enough, these places would be subjected to the same crime level as your average pharmacy.
