PALMDALE – There is still time to register for the upcoming “Palmdale Works! Youth Job Academy.”
Created in 2008, the Youth Job Academy is designed to prepare participants for the competitive job market. It is open to youths ages 15 through 18.
Classes for Session One will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, from Jan. 25 through Feb. 10.
Session Two classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, from Feb. 23 through March 10.
Classes in both sessions will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Chimbole Cultural Center, 38550 Sierra Highway in Palmdale.
There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Interested students may apply online at www.cityofpalmdale.org/youth.
During the course of the program, Academy students will be taught how to apply for jobs and how to dress and prepare for job interviews. Students will meet employers from local businesses and will participate in mock interviews. Participants must attend each session to graduate.
“Participation in a program like this says a lot to potential employers about the motivation and commitment of any young person entering the job market,” stated Palmdale’s Community Programs Supervisor Trish Jones.
