2 teens arrested in Palmdale Target smash and grab

by The AV Times Staff • December 17, 2015

PALMDALE -Two 14-year-old boys were arrested Wednesday for allegedly smashing the front window at a local Target and entering the store, authorities said.

The incident took place around 2:46 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the store located at 39440 10th Street West in Palmdale, according to Lieutenant Brian Dunn of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.

“Palmdale Station received a 911 call that a front window of the Palmdale Target store had been smashed by two subjects.  Deputies responded and were on scene almost immediately,” Dunn stated in a news release.

“The first deputy on scene was advised the two subjects had entered through the smashed window and started to run down a store aisle when they happened to run into some of the night shift employees inside the store. The subjects turned and ran out the same window they smashed,” Dunn stated.

Authorities broadcast the descriptions of the subjects, and two local teenagers who matched the descriptions were detained by deputies nearby, according to Dunn.

The suspects, both 14 years old, were identified by witnesses as the two who committed the crime, Dunn said.

Both subjects were detained on suspicion of commercial burglary.

“Cops should have shot the damn kids”???

      Are you outta your mind???

Judge, jury, and executioner, no trial necessary, for breaking a window???

Normally, I would suggest you find some fascist country that would be more to your liking, but there is NOWHERE on Earth that this would be acceptable.

Are you crazy! This is America. Ever heard of I don’t know a trial by jury? I am morally outraged by your clearly 100% literal statement.

They probably won’t learn they are 14 and their parents are paying for it. Its just so sad that as time goes by they get younger and younger. If parents would be on top of their kids working or not every parent has time to instill morals into their kids unless they are flat out lazy or don’t care

ultimately it will be the parents that are punished, there will be fines that they will have to pay since both boys are minors, which will hopefully teach them all a lesson. Obviously the parents not being aware of the kids gone at almost 3 in the morning raises a red flag as to their parenting skills.

If these kids were instilled with the fear of consequences things like this would never happen. Unfortunately, parents these days are either afraid to reprimand their kids, work crazy hours, or are just plain lazy and out of sight out of mind mentality.

    Just curious,
Could these same “boys” be involved with the TWO smashed out door windows on Palmdale Blvd. The TOM’s and Pizza place plaza area…?
I Noticed, the pizza door window, followed by Tom’s door window then later Target’s door window! Ugh…
Don’t people know it’s too cold to have windows “OPEN” =p

They said they’re going to get Christmas gifts one way
or another. They said Santa don’t land on their roof.

And being a single parent has nothing to do with their behavior… It’s based on their actions and individual choice…they knew the consequences but failed to realize ..sure hope “Santa” takes back their gifts

      December 17, 2015 at 1:46 pm

Exactly. By their actions I would imagine Santa will be breaking and entering homes to collect gifts for them. parents need to learn how to be parents and not friends. The child’s behavior is the direct reflection of the parent. I don’t give a s### if there’s one , two or three parents at home.

i dont think being raised by one parent…!! has anything to do with what these boys have done..!!! i have friends with both parents and they still did almost the same thing!!! i just hate the ingnorants from u stereotypes!!! always have to judge juveniles!!!! come on now we all did stuff we weren’t supposed to do!!! these kids just had a more serious dumb idea that iam sure they regret rite about now.!!!

Don’t their parents teach them any morals at home? If that was my son… and he did that? Serious consequences for his actions. But then again, most boys in PD come from a single family home.

14 year olds have no morality. They have, at best, fear of consequences.

Actually many 14 year olds do have morals. Obviously not these ones, but that it definely from their upbringing.

        • Tim Scott says

          December 17, 2015 at 12:36 pm

I suspect you have a looser definition of morality than I do. Even a lot of adults guide their behavior by fear of consequences rather than any actual morality. That isn’t a condemnation, just a reality to consider when predicting behavior.

I think you mean “single parent” homes. What does that have to do with anything????

What difference does it make coming from a single family home? I raised two boys on my own and they never robbed anyone. Very sterotypical of you.

I raised my son on my own and he’s getting ready to enter the FBI. Theses children being this bad had nothing to do with being from a single parent home. It had more to do with the fact that their parent(s) “spared the rod and spoiled the child”.

If I remember being 14 correctly, that was about the height of “sneak out and meet friends even though there is absolutely nothing to do in the tiny hours of the morning.” Once we got a little older the idea of sneaking out to WALK around was beneath us, but at 14 it was cool. We were smart enough not to break store windows though, even at 14.

Fourteen years old and this is how they find to get their Christmas gifts. What a bummer. I hope they find wrong in their ways and learn there is a better way of living this life. Cold as heck at 2:46 AM and they still find it necessary to break into the store. When guts and stupidity mix all kinds of craziness can happen.
