LAKE LOS ANGELES – A 63-year-old woman was found shot to death inside a Lake Los Angeles home Friday, authorities said.
The woman was found around 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at a home in the 15800 block of Greenrock Avenue, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
“Deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence in the area regarding a welfare check call. When they arrived on scene, they discovered a 63-year-old female black adult victim had sustained a gunshot wound,” the news release states. “Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.”
A neighbor who did not want to be identified said the woman’s family members went to the home to check on her Thursday night because they hadn’t heard from her since Tuesday. No one answered the door and family members were unable to get into the home, the neighbor said. Deputies forced entry into the home Friday afternoon and that’s when the woman was found, according to the neighbor.
The woman’s name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, coroner’s officials said Saturday morning.
