LANCASTER – Recognizing the ongoing sacrifice made by the enlisted men and women of the United States military, local citizens and businesses have banded together to say thank you and share the gift of locally brewed, handcrafted beer in a pop-up party this Saturday.

Dubbed “Beers for the Brave,” the pop-up party will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Bravery Brewing, located at 42705 8th Street West in Lancaster.

Local military icon R. Lee Ermey will attend as special guest of this first-ever event, according to organizers.

“What started out as a simple question about putting quality local beer in the hands of active duty military personnel has turned into a widespread community cause,” stated local businessman Bill Silva who is serving as the event chair. “It’s about shaking a hand and buying a beer or soda to welcome the enlisted men and women in the Antelope Valley.”

All residents, including veterans, are invited to attend and buy a beer for the brave. Limited edition hats that double as “beer bonds” are available while supplies last and help fund this beer-buying expedition.

Each hat purchased for $50 will buy 10 beers for our military guests. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be provided free of charge. Pizza will be provided to all servicemen and women, as well as their families in attendance, courtesy of Roundtable Pizza in Palmdale. Local artist Joel Hatcher will provide live music.

In addition to thanking all of the community supporters behind the event, Silva also gave special thanks to the Air Force Sergeants Association, Spaceway Chapter 1328 for helping make the event possible.

“Without the AFSA and so many local businesses, this event would not have come together. It is yet another sign of how this community rallies around our brave members of the military,” stated Silva. “And we are honored to have this opportunity to serve them.”

The event is free, but participants are expected to purchase beers for active duty servicemen and servicewomen in attendance. Limited edition hats may also be purchased for $50 that provide 10 beers for military guests.
