LANCASTER – County firefighters made quick work of a Lancaster house fire Monday, but four people were hurt in the blaze, authorities said.
The fire inside a one-story home in the 600 block of West Avenue J-9 was reported at 11:56 a.m., according to Battalion Chief Larry Tucker of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He said about 42 firefighters responded and the fire was “knocked down in the first 12 minutes.”
“We had four residents that were inside at the time of the fire, two adults and two children,” Tucker said. “They had to escape out back bedroom windows.”
All four residents suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to a hospital for treatment, Tucker said.
The incident remains under investigation.
“From our preliminary investigation at the time it appears to be an accidental fire,” Tucker said.
