PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s popular Thursday Night on the Square (TNOTS) will present the fifth of eight free events this evening (July 23) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Poncitlán Square (9th St. East between Ave. Q-9 & Ave. Q-10).

Families can enjoy live country music from Runaway, food from local vendors, free City activities for kids and an open-air market featuring specialty items.

“This week’s theme is ‘Home on the Range,’” stated Recreation Supervisor Annie Pagliaro. “Round up the family, and take them on a trip to the good ol’ Midwest right here on Poncitlán Square! Kids can create barnyard animal paint stick pals, bottle cap magnet animals and a felt finger puppet farm animal of their choice.”

Jordan Hernandez of Lancaster was caught “green handed” last week at TNOTS and was presented with a backpack courtesy of Waste Management made of recycled materials full of treats, including day passes to DryTown.

Host Town Palmdale’s Special Olympics Athletes from Cyprus and St. Lucia will be stopping by the Square from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The AERO Institute will present NASA’s “Earth Right Now” highlighting airborne science missions on the agency’s DC-8 aircraft.

In addition to the music and activities, one lucky person will get caught “green-handed” – disposing of recyclable and non-recyclable waste in the proper container – and will win a backpack made of recycled materials, courtesy of Waste Management, which will be filled with DryTown passes, treats and Palmdale Amphitheater Summer Concert Series tickets. Last week’s winner was Jordan Hernandez of Lancaster.
