Quartz Hill man arrested after Acton brush fire

by The AV Times Staff • July 9, 2015

ACTON – A 23-year-old Quartz Hill man was arrested early Wednesday morning for allegedly causing a two-acre brush fire in Acton, authorities said.

Christopher Hayes was taken into custody in connection with a fire that broke out near Soledad Canyon Road and Crown Valley Parkway, according to Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

After Los Angeles County firefighters doused the blaze, the sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail responded to the area around 4:15 a.m. to assist with the investigation, Saldana stated.

“Arson detectives found that Palmdale deputies contacted a man at the location who fire personnel said was near the fire site while they were attempting to extinguish the fire. Deputies arrested him for being in possession of a gun,” Saldana stated. “Arson investigators discovered that the suspect had been staying at an illegal encampment he built, and his fire for cooking ignited the nearby brush.”

Christopher Hayes was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully causing a fire and being a felon in possession of a gun. He was booked at the sheriff’s Palmdale Station and held without bail.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail at 323-881-7500. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

Is not such of fire season like the media imposes in our way of thinking is man made 99 per cent of the forest fire, they spent millions when they get out of control not counting the damage to the environment,if they would install towers with vigilantes every 5 miles in the forest that would prevent 90 per cent of the fires and the cost would be minimum compared to what they spend in airplanes and helicopters. Now lots of people don’t know that the government pay contractors lots of money and what this contractors does is bring hundreds of workers not from USA but from Mexico, Guatemala and Salvador to fight the fires. The contractors hire people from there to pay less out of pocket for themselves. So if theres no fire theres no money.
