PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s popular Thursday Night on the Square (TNOTS) will usher in the summer season with the first of eight free events beginning this Thursday.

The first 2015 TNOTS event will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Poncitlán Square, located on 9th Street East, between Avenues Q-9 and Q-10.

TNOTS will feature a Children’s Art & Activity Center, where kids will get Stuck on the Square creating their own duct tape wallet, get into Monkey Business making wild animal tails, and get personal with their own Sock It To Me puppet pal. (contributed)

The family event will feature live music from R&B favorites Lorena Mackey & the Hi-Lites; a variety of foods from local vendors; an open-air market featuring specialty items; and free city activities for kids, including a Children’s Art & Activity Center, open while supplies last, and Camp TNOTS, featuring guest storytelling at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. and all new Washi World crafts.

“This week’s theme is ‘Throw Back Thursday,’ and we’re going to kick it old school and pay tribute to 15 years of TNOTS,” stated Recreation Supervisor Annie Pagliaro.

In addition to the music and activities, one lucky person will get caught “green-handed” – disposing of recyclable and nonrecyclable waste in the proper container – and will win a special prize, courtesy of Waste Management.

Alcohol is not allowed. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Children’s Art & Activity Center and Camp TNOTS are for children ages 2 to 12.
