LANCASTER – Free health-screenings, entertainment and activities for children are what attendees can expect at the inaugural “Expo De Salud” this Saturday.

Presented by High Desert Medical Group (HDMG) and Heritage Health Care, the expo will be held from 12 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Pioneer Event Center, located at 45000 Valley Central Way in Lancaster. This event, which is free and open to all ages, is billed as a special tribute to the health of the Hispanic communities in the Antelope Valley.

Expo De Salud will feature American-born Mexican actress and award-winning singer-songwriter Angélica María, according to organizers. María will be making her appearance at about 3 p.m., followed by an autograph signing.

María has appeared in more than 50 Mexican films, multiple Mexican TV Shows, theatre productions and a few Hollywood films. Her songs and albums have international fame. She has won titles such as Best First Actress, Comeback of the Year, Musical Excellence and Best Supporting Actress, in addition to many other awards and nominations.

Expo De Salud will also include a full afternoon of local entertainment, bingo, giveaways and health screenings, such as bone density, vision screening, video otoscopy, BMI, cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure and pulse ox.

Providers, pharmacists, medical professionals and more 50 vendors will be present to offer attendees information and resources for leading healthier, more energetic and productive lifestyles. Additionally, representatives will be available with health plan benefit options and enrollment information.

Rest assured, if there was an event where you showed up and nothing else happened except you getting hit by a baseball bat, if there was a sign that even hinted at anything having to due with Hispanics, white people would complain in masses.

    – Signed, white guy with VA healthcare.

No speak-a Spanish … what does this event title mean?!

Oh yeah … Apparently I’m not an American because you know, can’t speak Spanish. I know it’s not an official language… Our country didn’t see fit to exclude people based off their lingual preference!

Too bad we didn’t apply a national language like everyone else! We wouldn’t even need English!

What word describes someone who speaks three languages – trilingual
What word describes someone who speaks two languages – bilingual
What word describes someone who speaks only one language – The joke’s answer is: An American.

It’s a sad comment on people who are arrogant in their ignorance, like most ignorant people are. Please don’t spew your prejudice and hate in public. It’s better kept behind white hoods with your buddies.

Your anti white attitude seems to belong under a hood of its own color… Funny you arent racist when you down white people, bilingual or not! You not part of the solution to intolerance,so why do you cast the first stone when someone speaks their mind concerning the forced curriculum of past generations?

        YOU are the joke here!

An event to improve children’s health which reaches out to the hispanic community is a good thing. There are people in our community of all backgrounds that can benefit from this expo. Yet Holy Moly’s comment complains that the title is in Spanish.

His attempt to turn on its head his belief that English should be our official language shows great ignorance. The original Constitution of California was written in English and Spanish. Our country has always been a land where many languages and peoples came together to create our great experiment. And we truly have proven our greatness as a country.

I believe it’s better to shine a light than to curse the darkness. And when someone uses an event to improve children’s health to spew their racism, it’s kinda upsetting.

By the way, many white people, like myself, speak more than one language. The “joke” refers to Americans, not white people as you assume. Americans come in all colors.

But it is so much easier to be an intolerant jerk when you don’t have a common language!

Not that I expect you have any difficulty being an intolerant jerk in English. I’m sure you are quite accomplished!

        God…
I just read another Tim Scott Flip Flop.
Your logic on this site is backwards at best.
You comment in a hateful nature 90% of the time with a chip on your shoulder!
You got some chutzpah reflecting you image upon others to demonize their ideology!

That wasn’t a flip flop, it was sarcasm. Look it up.
