Information sought in Lancaster shooting, attempted murder with car

by The AV Times Staff • May 28, 2015

Shooting graphicLANCASTER – Operation Safe Streets detectives are asking for the public’s assistance with any information regarding a March 27 shooting and a May 8 gang-related attempted murder with car, both in Lancaster.

No one was hit in the shooting, which was reported around 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, in the 500 Block of East Lancaster Boulevard, according to Deputy Joshua Stamsek of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

Responding deputies found nine bullet casings on the ground, and witnesses told deputies the gunman had been standing in the middle of a parking lot, Stamsek said.

“The suspect pointed a chrome handgun into the air and fired approximately 10 shots,” Stamsek said. “Witnesses stated it appeared the suspect was either shooting at an apartment complex or a vehicle.”

Stamsek said the suspect was described as a black male wearing a teal blue shirt, blue jeans and a hat. The suspect fled in an unknown vehicle, Stamsek added.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact OSS Detective Welle at 661-948-8466.

Three people have been arrested and charged in an alleged attempted murder with car, but detectives are still appealing to the public for more information regarding the May 8 incident.

Westly Deaguero, 19, Anthony Madrid, 20, and a 17-year-old male (whose name has not been released because he is a juvenile) are accused of trying to kill a 20-year-old man from a rival tagging crew, according to Stamsek.

Stamsek said deputies responded to a call around 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, regarding a traffic collision on Cedar Avenue near Avenue J in Lancaster. Several witnesses said a victim was chased and then hit with a blue sedan, according to Stamsek.

“Deputies were able to locate the victim who had fled the scene where the collision occurred due to being in fear for his life,” Stamsek said. “Deputies later learned the victim was no stranger to the suspects; it is believed they are from rival tagging crews (gangs) from the Lancaster area.”

Deaguero and Madrid were arrested May 21 after detectives from both Lancaster and Palmdale Operation Safe Streets (OSS) Units, assisted by the LAN-CAP Unit, executed search warrants in the 44600 block of Date Avenue and the 1100 Block of West Avenue J14, according to Stamsek.

The 17-year-old male was later arrested, and “all three were booked and later charged with attempt murder with gang allegations,” Stamsek stated.

Deaguero and Madrid are each being held on more than $2 million bail, according to LASD inmate records. They are due in court June 5 for hearing to determine if there is enough evidence against them for a trial.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Lancaster OSS Unit at 661-940-3872.

Yo dawg, yalls just don’t understand. it’s the street, tagging is in our souls, it’s who we are. If we don’t paint, we will die! spray painting illegible garble on someone else’s property is the only thing that makes me feel worthwhile. Why do yall have to be a bunch of hatas? Vincent Van Gogh was my hero when I was a little Nino. I just want to paint what’s in my soul…on your car.

Are you for real? Are you saying that since you have no self-control you’re entitled to do whatever you want? Why not tell us where you live so we can “tag” your house or your car or your … oh wait, you’re probably uneducated and don’t own anything to tag! Get a life.

This stuff never happened until the empty headed low life thugs moved up here. Why do people tag on someone else’s property. No respect for anyone. Why don’t they go to school and get an education in art and be productive in society. Stop being a burden to everyone.

They grow up to be worse knuckleheads than they were in grade school. No longer riding skateboards, but now driving cars. Their gang names alone shows their immature intellect. As long as they get a “slap on the wrist,” this type of crap will continue to happen in the AV. I hope the outcome of this case it’s something that will serve as a lesson to other little Tagger gangs. Attempt murder is attempt murder, whether with a stick, knife, gun or car. The results are the same.
