PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale, Antelope Valley Youth Build and the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station are partnering for the third annual “Safe Neighborhood Walk for Change” and the inaugural “Kickin’ It with a Cop” kickball game on Saturday, May 30. They’re seeking community participation and sponsorship.

“We’re asking local organizations, churches, businesses, schools and groups to participate with us to make this an event that brings real positive change to our community,” stated AV Youth Build Director Rossie Johnson.

The events, which are free and open to the public, will begin with the kickball game at 9 a.m. at Desert Sands Park, located at 39117 3rd Street East. The contest will feature students from AV YouthBuild taking on staff from the Palmdale Sheriff’s department, followed by a group discussion.

At 11 a.m., the “Safe Neighborhood Walk for Change” will take place at The Palmdale Dream Center, located at 38518 5th Street East. This event will include a BBQ lunch, children’s carnival, music, and prize giveaways.

There also will be a Support Services Resource Fair at the City of Palmdale’s Yucca Neighborhood House #1, located at 503 East Avenue Q-3. Local organizations are invited to participate in the Fair.

To find out how your organization can help sponsor or participate in any of these events, contact AV Youth Build at 661-266-8900.
