LANCASTER – Color Me Rad 5k returns to Lancaster this Saturday with a blaze of color bombs, color cannons, and color mortars that will leave runners and walkers painted in an array of colors.
Billed as the largest color run in the northern region of Southern California, the second annual Color Me Rad 5K kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Pioneer Event Center, located at 45000 Valley Central Way in Lancaster.
Color Me Rad 5k is loosely based on the Hindu Festival of Colors, a time of enjoying spring’s abundant colors. This untimed event emphasizes fun over competition, and it is common to see first-time runners as well as families with children walking the entire course.
On Saturday, sirens will blare in front of the Pioneer Event Center at each starting time, and then thousands of revelers will take to the streets of Lancaster, donning painted-on tattoos, ballerina tutus, colorful wigs and the essential white t-shirts, according to organizers.
From the Pioneer Event Center, participants will make their way up Valley Central Way and then travel along Lancaster Boulevard until they hit 30th Street West. Runners will then turn on Avenue I for a final stretch behind Cinemark 22 before reaching the finish line at the Pioneer Event Center.
Along the route, participants will pass eight color stations where they will be bombarded with cloudbursts of color.
Colored powders will be tossed, sprayed, dropped, and blown at runners and walkers, tie-dying their white t-shirts. The party will continue at the finish line in an atmosphere described by the promoter as, “the royal rumble of color.” Color explosions will commence every 15 to 20 minutes as a live DJ entertains at the stage. Food, snacks, and massages will rejuvenate participants after more than 3 miles of color fun.
The second annual Color Me Rad 5k is presented again by the Marco and Sandra Johnson Foundation. All participants will receive 5K entry, a 2015 Tour t-shirt, a pair of knee-high socks, a color pack, and free photos from professional photographers.
Tickets start $55 and can be purchased online here. You can SAVE 10 PERCENT OFF registration when you use the following code: johnson15

I went to the air show…the volunteers were less than helpful at best…i can imagine them not having any cannons at all, then telling the folks: “just missed it!” (throws powder on ground)
Gotta pay fifty clams?
Starts at a city council (former) owned school?
Ends at….BEX?
….what a bunch of complacent sheeple.
Exercise! …for your wallet…
I walk this area normally…i walk this area due to the lack of population in the location of our only shopping outlet other than Wal-Mart. This area is a hovel. Run down. Hand picked improvements. No shortage of homeless and riff raff. Bet Parris drains the swamp for this run…like the blvd…he’ll forget the gators…

It’s for charity. You sound like a grouchy old man which would explain the negative attitude.

It is for charity, a charity ran by the owners of the for profit college…. It is more like smart business…. But it does provide fun for people…. So it is a good thing no matter where the money really ends up….. Been to them before in differant areas…. Fun fun, something to do so it is a positive….

Not grouchy. Fed up with brown nosers that watch bs events like this in a beautiful place and say that it is beneficial…charity…you donating? If so…you prove me right. If not…you prove me right! Contributing to such events, like the parking at the air show, just give the local powers a pat on the back! You are cool with the proactive approach of capitalism…for hand picked companies that “fit the image” of our dear mayor! Just had a bushfire started by one of the fireworks at his brown shirt events…do you get fireworks at your house? No. But you are cool with him having that privilege. Grouchy. Born and raised in this town,it has yet to do anything to improve the entire image of this area (cept for selling dem dar Sun rays), and has a great reputation of keeping it that way…every since the seventies! If you walked this area full of failed businesses(as well as reoccurring companies around Lancaster, the hand picked ones) you’d understand why i seem like a grinch! The street to the south(valley cntrl way) has foliage on the corners off every turn in front of the rundown walmart carcass…this along with his beautification attempts at the surrounding sidewalks…you gotta try it to understand!
The improvements that are present. The companies without any surrounding competition. The horrible traffic conditions. The location of any police officers patrolling the area around the failed mall. All signs point to a bs nepotism routine present in every facade on the blvd! Fox field and the eye sure have helped you, right? No.
These events promote the friends and resources our local govt uses on a daily basis to create an intolerable amount secrecy around the appropriations of the local funds….allegations are useless and the powers at be DO have pr plants inside of social media outlets that demonize any attempts to show the true face of the situation brought before us by our dear incumbents!
So no. I’m not a grumpy old man. I’m a 30 vet of this fair burg…seen people like you fade into obscurity because off lack of judgment and evidence. Keep trolling!
