LANCASTER – A man was found shot to death in Lancaster early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Coroner’s officials identified the victim as 32-year-old Michael McCoy of Los Angeles.
The shooting occurred around 1:19 a.m. Sunday, March 29, in front of a house on the 44400 block of Fenhold Street, according to Deputy Don Walker of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau
“Detectives have learned that deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station responded to the location regarding a gunshot victim call. When deputies arrived they observed the victim had suffered from a gunshot wound,” Walker stated. “Paramedics arrived and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was shot on the sidewalk in front of the location.”
Witnesses told responding deputies that a man carrying a gun was seen walking with a female nearby, and witnesses directed deputies to the man’s location, according to a Lancaster Station broadcast. Soon after, deputies detained a man at gunpoint, according to the broadcast, but it was unclear if the man was arrested or considered a suspect in the shooting.
Homicide detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and no additional information was available Sunday afternoon.
