PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale will continue its “2015 Season of Service” program with a “Courson Clean & Green” cleanup this Saturday, March 28.

The cleanup will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at SAVES, the Recreation & Culture building, and Courson Park, located at 38226 10th Street East in Palmdale.

The event is part of the city’s continuing participation in the “National Day of Service” in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

All participants must complete a Release of Liability (available at www.cityofpalmdale.org or at event registration).

Participants must wear closed-toe shoes, be prepared to walk over uneven terrain, and use work gloves and sun protection. Water will be provided courtesy of the Palmdale Water District. Verification of service hours is available.

The final 2015 “Season of Service” event will take place Saturday, April 25, with a Global Youth Service Day scheduled at Marie Kerr Park, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd., from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The ‘Season of Service’ is designed to offer service projects for residents to join, as well as provide information for community members to develop their own projects. In 2014, Palmdale residents donated over 40,000 hours of service in the various projects.
