Homicide detectives investigating ‘suspicious death’ of Lancaster infant

by The AV Times Staff • March 18, 2015

LANCASTER – Homicide detectives are investigating the “suspicious death” of an 7-month-old boy, who died Tuesday after being brought to a hospital from his family’s home in Lancaster, sheriff’s officials said.

The baby was taken to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles from the 2300 block of East Avenue J-8 after family members called 9-1-1 and reported the child had been injured in the home, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“The infant was transported to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for a traumatic brain injury, but [he] did not survive and was pronounced dead. A preliminary investigation revealed family members’ account[s] of how the infant was injured are inconsistent with the type of injury the infant sustained,” the sheriff’s press release states.

“The Investigation is in its early stages, and no arrests have been made. The exact cause of death will be determined by Los Angeles County Department of Coroner personnel,” the press release states.

An autopsy is pending on the infant, identified as Terran Ternell Pettaway Jr., according to coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

What is wrong with people anymore? It’s beyond any words that I can think of that anyone could hurt an innocent child. Do these idiots honestly believe that they can fool a coroner by lying about what really happened to that child. They need to wise up and realize that not only are they going to have to answer to the police about this but also to god on their day of judgement. Rest in peace poor baby boy, you are in a better place now.

God bless this child. Regardless of how or why the child died, it is tragic. No child should be subjected to such a short and violent life.
