LANCASTER – Calling all Pokémon fans! Second City Gym will present the Pokémon Regional Championship and Expo this weekend in Lancaster, featuring Trading Card and Video Game Open Rounds on Saturday, Feb. 14, and Championship Playoff Rounds and a Community Expo on Sunday, Feb. 15.
The action takes place at the Pioneer Event Center (PEC), located at 45000 Valley Central Way in Lancaster.
Having organized more than 200 Pokémon tournaments since 2001, the Second City Gym team is bringing the Pokémon Regional Championship and Expo to the Pioneer Event Center for the first time. Ample facilities at the PEC allow this event to be presented on the largest Pokémon game floor ever in California, according to organizers.
Organizers say the event will provide a high-level Pokémon Trading Card and Video Game Championship competition, plus smaller side event competitions and, for the first time, a Community Expo on Sunday that Pokémon fans of all ages can enjoy.
Admission to Sunday’s Community Expo, taking place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., includes:
- Big screen championship playoff matches.
- Demonstrations of Trading Card and Video Game (learn-to-play).
- Creative Center (drawing Pokémon)
- Access to Side Event Tournaments (Expo admission includes $5 credit toward one event)
- Door Prizes
Tickets are available for $5 at the door, starting 9 a.m. Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult (includes one free parent wristband).
The Pokémon Regional Trading Card and Video Game Championship is an open tournament. Open rounds will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with top placing players in each age division advancing to championship playoffs on Sunday.
