Community Academy XXXII starts March 24

by The AV Times Staff • February 11, 2015

Patrol car fileThe Palmdale and Lancaster Sheriff’s Stations are in the process of selecting 50 interested residents from the station areas to participate in the Antelope Valley’s 32nd Community Academy.

The purpose of the free Academy is to build a better understanding between the community and the Sheriff’s Department through education.

Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9 p.m., at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, located at 501 W. Lancaster Blvd. in Lancaster. The free class will meet from March 24 to May 12, 2015.

The program will focus on the Sheriff Department’s operational procedures, as well as sessions ranging from criminal law to undercover operations.

Participants will also go on a ride-a-long, tour a custody facility and participate in role-playing exercises.

If you are interested in participating in the Antelope Valley’s 32nd Community Academy, visit the Palmdale or Lancaster Sheriff Station and pick up an application at the front counter.

Applications can be obtained and returned at:

Palmdale Sheriff’s Station
750 East Avenue Q
Palmdale, Ca. 93550

OR

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station
501 West Lancaster Blvd

    Greetings,
My name is Sassan Shakoori, I just wanted to express my appreciation to Palmdale/Lancaster Sheriff’s Station for offering this wonderful program and give the neighborhood’s residence this wonderful opportunity to learn and be part of the law enforcement. As a candidate of the Resreve Deputy program, I would love to join these classes. Currently I am in the pre-academy program at COC, and that is how I found out about yourh program. I am also in the VOP Program with Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.
Due to the time restriction, I wanted to find about possibly being able to attend to some of these classes. Could you please let me know if that is possible. I live in Santa Clarita, so I would have to bare the long drive as well.
    Thanks again,

    Sassan,
    661-644-4322

I agree, isn’t it against the law to drive and text? I see it happening everyday, even pedestrians, paying more attention to their cell phone conversations than where they are going.
