LANCASTER – There is still time to register for a community basketball program launching this weekend in Lancaster under the leadership of former pro basketball player Raphael W. Harris.
Coach Harris will be on hand from 4 to 6 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 6, at the Park View Gym (808 W Ave J, Lancaster) to register student athletes and to answer questions.
“I look forward to sharing my many years of professional basketball experience and knowledge with the youth of the Antelope Valley,” Harris stated. “It is my goal to help student athletes develop and increase their skills, athletic ability, and mental approach to the game.”
Harris’ Basketball Skills & Fitness Camp will be offered Feb. 7 – March 1 at UAV’s Park View Gymnasium, located at 808 West Avenue J in Lancaster. The cost to attend is $100.
Student athletes receive eight, two-hour weekend sessions, plus access to Wednesday workouts, Harris said.
The age appropriate sports training camp is designed for boys and girls, ages 6 to 18, and all skill levels are welcome. Presented by Contrail Athletics LLC, the program will be offered in a fun, energetic, and challenging format that is designed to inspire players on the court and in their everyday lives, Harris said.
“Contrail offers clients an opportunity to be trained by current, former professional and college athletes,” Harris stated. “This training concept exposes clients to a wealth of experience, knowledge, training techniques and mental conditioning strategies used to elevate our athletes to the highest levels in sports.”
According to Harris, the Basketball Skills & Fitness Camp will feature:
- Motor skills development,
- Ball Handling,
- Shooting mechanics,
- Sportsmanship,
- Confidence building techniques,
- Pro mental training techniques, and
- Components from the NAIA Champions of Character Program.
