PALMDALE – Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a gang-related car-to-car shooting in Palmdale Friday that critically wounded a teenage girl, authorities announced Saturday.

Jaime Espinoza, 20, and Fernando Albarran Jr., 21, were booked at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station jail Saturday morning on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Ryan Rouzan of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspects, both residents of Palmdale, are each being held on $500,000 bail.

Detectives said the car-to-car shooting occurred around 12:02 p.m., Friday, Dec. 19, in the area of 17th Street East and Avenue R in Palmdale.

“An occupant of the suspect’s vehicle shot into the victims’ vehicle striking at least two occupants, one being the female juvenile who was sitting in the front passenger’s seat,” stated Deputy Grace Medrano of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “The victims continued to drive to the 37800 block of Melton Avenue, Palmdale, where Palmdale Sheriff Station deputies contacted the victims.”

Neighbors in the area said the girl was shot in the head. She was transported to a local hospital in extremely critical condition. The second wounded person did not sustain life-threatening injuries, a neighbor said.

Several hours after the shooting, a vehicle believed to be involved was stopped by Palmdale Sheriff Station deputies in the area of Palmdale Boulevard and 10th Street East, Medrano stated.

Three occupants of that vehicle were detained in connection with the shooting. One of the detained was released pending further investigation into the shooting, while Espinoza and Albarran were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The girl does not have any gang affiliation, but the suspects are believed to be gang members, authorities said.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

Another drive-by shooting by cowardly adults, critically injuring a sixteen year-old girl and seriously wounding another. I pray this child lives.

First of all, there is no official evidence that both Jaime and Fernando are guilty. If you read the article correctly, it says that they are SUSPECTS. The media should not have published their names/pictures when they do not have proof to back this up. They are simply trying to find someone to blame.

    • You must be dumb says

      December 23, 2014 at 5:01 pm

Really??? Your going back them where you there when it happened??? If they got arrested it’s because the cops/detectives found evidence on them and there was witnesses. Like the girls brother and friends. Seriously don’t be dumb there is a young girl fighting for her life because these two idiots decided to this

        December 23, 2014 at 7:52 pm

        1) *you’re 2) You clearly don’t know what happened. :) the reason they got arrested was because the car they were in was SIMILAR to the one involved in the shooting. Again, they’re suspects. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, right? There isn’t any proof, so be careful what you say if you don’t know the full story. Especially if you want to start calling names. You’re pathetic honestly. They are innocent and it will be proved to you all who want to believe this [removed] “news” in a short period of time. I know what happened and, I know what I’m saying. Therefore, you’re the idiot here ;)

If anything you are the pathetic one. Sorry but if it quacks like a duck it must be a duck. For your information I do know what happened obviously I wasn’t there. But I do know what happened and I’m not going off what the news is saying. I know the girls mom. Anyways if you really think that that they are innocent why aren’t they out yet. Hello they are locked up not just because the car fit the discription the cops do an investigation before they press serious charges on someone. If they where innocent and it was just cause of the car they would be out sweetie and they would be looking for the people responsible for this. Open your eyes!! They obviously found the gun or more evidence on them they all do the test where they test them for the gun residue. So who is dumb????

          • Just shut up already says

            December 24, 2014 at 1:05 pm

I know one of the suspects personally, and I know where he was at the time. The other guys father is going to get ahold of a video that BOTH of them are in to prove that they were in a store when or around this happened. They didn’t even find a weapon dumbass, I went to the hearing in court. So do us all a favor and shut the [removed] up “sweetie”. The case isn’t closed yet, so until there’s PROOF that it was them, they’re innocent. **oh! Still you :)

It’s not a possible car, or believed to be the car, or similar car. It is THE car involved. Also, they put themselves at the scene. I’m sure you took this fools collect phone call from jail where he asked you to put money on his books and told you how much he loves you and told you all his ali-lies. And as soon as he got off the phone with you he called one of his other girlfriends and read her the same shpeil. There were 3 guys detained in the car when it was stopped, and they let the third guy go. Then a judge decided if there was enough evidence to hold those guys in a preliminary hearing. If that doesn’t leave some doubt in your mind that maybe your precious little “ZOG” might not be so innocent, we really can’t afford someone of your caliber in this state. Please leave now.

While today’s society helps lead kids astray it is up to the parents or parent to provide the moral compass for their offspring. Where is the accountability for the parents of these miscreants they have produced?

Bad parenting or missing parents, especially fathers, lead to what we see today. Liberal politics add to the problems as schools are now prohibited from addressing problem children.

I am horrified that another child was shot. Unfortunately major crime has descended on our valley like a plague. We should initiate stop and frisk in the A.V. We should do everything legally possible to run criminals out of this area.

The parents of Jaime Espinoza and Fernando Albarran Jr should be thoroughly investigated as nuts don’t often fall far from the tree…

We have a society already out of control, and a government that continues to throw money (Welfare, food stamps, Medicaid) at the problem and not at a solution (jobs) that could get them up and out of that gang life. Now we have two high profile situations that turned the law breaking perpetrators into ‘victims’ and the officers (99% who serve and protect their community) into the criminals – even after their cases were reviewed and they were cleared. They were cleared because the evidence showed the officers were doing what they were hired to do – if both victims would have complied instead of resisting – they would both be alive – and spending Christmas with their families – as would the two officers in NYC – and maybe even this young girl. Criminal minds have been empowered to do whatever they want. The insane media has even managed to turn the NYC mayor against his own department.
Very sad – Praying for the family of this young girl who now must go bury their teenage daughter. Heartbreaking.

Really, young people need better roads to go down. It’s sad that these young men find any honor, bravery in killing innocent people. To be a part of a gang is to be a follower. Not a leader. Find another hobbie, this one is so cowardly.
