Man hit, killed by car in Littlerock

LITTLEROCK – A man standing in the road was hit and killed by a car Thursday evening in Littlerock, authorities said.

The fatal collision occurred around 6:08 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, on Avenue T, just west of 85th Street East, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The pedestrian, described as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s, was standing in the eastbound lane of Avenue T when he was hit, officers said.

According to the CHP report, 63-year-old Lancaster resident Ramon Cerena was driving a 2002 Honda Civic eastbound on Avenue T, at approximately 50 miles per hour, when he observed the pedestrian standing in the roadway. Cerena had no time to apply brakes, and he swerved his vehicle to the left before hitting the pedestrian, the CHP report states.

“[The pedestrian] came to rest along the south roadway edge,” the CHP report states.

A Good Samaritan began CPR until the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived on scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead at 6:20 p.m., according to the CHP report.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision, officers at the scene said. The pedestrian’s name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

  3. Well I got some of the story today. My husband works with a lady……this lady moved into the victims place as him and his mother relocated to another home. The mother just found out yesterday. According to his mother he (was) special needs man and I guess he would walk in the street for some reason and would always walk up and down ave T. I guess they have not released his name yet. My heart goes out to his mother as she will not have him around for christmas or at all anymore. Not only that but I believe this family does not have money as the mother goes and collects food from a charity :( Its just a very very sad situation over all.

      • Martha, I am truly sorry for the loss of your cousin and pain and suffering your aunt, as well as the family are suffering at this time. My heart go’s out to all of you.   4. This is the second accident on T Ave. in less then 6 months so very sad for the man that passed and also for the man that hit him he must be devastated especially that its so close to the Holidays…Tragic :(

  8. Darwin law strikes again. I feel sorry for the victims family but more so for the driver. His trauma is just starting.
