Homicide detectives were at the scene late Sunday morning in the 1600 block of East Avenue Q-6 in Palmdale, where a man was shot to death and a woman was injured.

PALMDALE – A 24-year-old man was killed and a woman was injured early Sunday morning when a fight escalated into a shooting at a birthday party in Palmdale, authorities said.

The fatal shooting happened around 12:20 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 19 at a residence in the 1600 block of East Avenue Q-6 in Palmdale, according to Deputy Peter Gomez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“Detectives have learned that a birthday party was being hosted at the location when an argument turned into a physical altercation in the front yard,” Gomez stated. “The suspect, now identified as 27-year-old Alejandro Rivera, retrieved a firearm and shot 24-year-old Miguel Perez and a female…”

Miguel Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. The female shooting victim was transported to a local hospital and is in “stable condition,” according to Gomez.

Alejandro Rivera fled the scene in a silver or beige Honda, and he should be considered armed and dangerous, according to Sheriff’s officials.

The west side (Rancho Vista) isn’t any better. My neighborhood is starting to change. I have undesirables living next to me. They are loud and inconsiderant. My neighborhood was so peaceful and quiet until they moved in. If it wasn’t for their rental agreement to include a gardner their house would look like crap. They don’t pay for trash and sometimes I catch them trying to put their trash in mine or other neighbors’ cans. I hope they move soon, but afraid more undesirables will move in.

You say the west side (Rancho Vista) isn’t any better. A quick glance of the AV Press Crime Blotter map on most any day will show differently. Today, that map shows 23 crimes East of the 14, To the West of the 14, there was 1 crime.

Those are reported crimes…what about the low life scum bags that just cause problems every day…illegal scooters, loud music, noisy loud mouthed neighbors that have no consideration for any one at any time and their worthless kids. You may call the police…but 3-4 hours later when they show up they do nothing because they did not see anything…
so it goes un reported, while the rest of us still suffer every day and night. That’s not just East side or West side but all of Antelope Valley…sad to say…

          October 22, 2014 at 2:24 pm

IF your “unreported crimes” happen all over the valley, then the reported crimes still land East of the 14 at a rate of 23 to 1.

          • sickoftheirways says

            October 22, 2014 at 4:21 pm

Not questioning the report…Just think if ALL the crimes were reported, doesn’t matter what side of the 14 has the most or least, it’s the whole valley that has more crime nowadays..
scum raising scum raising more scum…
            that’s what I’m talking about.

Under the ages 2, plus do you know anything about the situation itself I highly doubt it. So next when you want to put children life In danger maybe you should put your information up so your the one sentenced. I think you know what I mean. Thank you very much, thank you for putting innocent children at risk, and profanity isn’t necessary cause I’m not a lowlife like many of you. So please how about worry about your life and family before involving your self with a situation your not apart.

I am not at all shocked about the TRASH yes i said it TRASH, THAT
has over flown in to the AV. I was born and raised on 35th
And Q-6 my mom and dad both grew up on the same block as well
My mother Debra Ragan (1963-2006) grew up in the house i did. My parents moved us when i was 13 and it was dangerous then. Im 28 now and i have an 8 year old little boy and you couldnt pay me rto live backin palmdale, i live in Texas now and am thankful my kid will never know the
Gangbanging low life trash that now inhabits the AV. L.A as spilled its toxic waste of a life style into you being a little valley and surrounding areas the community is now riddled with thugs rapists murderers and just overall low life pieces of trash, and tge worst part is they gladly teach this parasitic mentality to there children

    • C. Barmisian says

      October 20, 2014 at 5:16 am

You moved away yet still are into the “trashy”, AV as you put it. Los Angeles County has its BS but Texas is no better. High Crime Stats in Texas, Poverty, Prisons and a lot of negatives are also present in Texas just like California. Texas even has shanty towns along the border. Texas & California are not really that great.

But it is true what you say. The Gang life style and mentality has polluted many many communities in the Unites States. I imagine its the same feeling some native peoples felt when gun totting Europeans moved into their turf and they started seeing the then negative changes take place.

What comes around goes around, sadly. Its really just about money. When was the last drive by in Bel Air or Pacific Pallisades?

    • A. Bazighian says

      October 20, 2014 at 5:37 am

Texas and California are just as bad. I guesse an area changing for worst is just the way Native American villages and people felt when white settlers destroyed their towns and villages.

What comes around goes around sadly.

      • Max says

        October 20, 2014 at 9:36 am

Oh boo hoo… Native Americans were murdering each other at a much higher rate than these gangbangers. Indian tribes in the Amazon were interviewed as to their family trees and causes of death. Almost all of them were murdered by other tribes! I suppose there was only a million people in the whole incredibly bountiful US of A because they had great birth control or something?

        • Greg says

          October 20, 2014 at 9:48 am

No there had been two large plague events prior to white settlers coming over. As well as the normal feuds and wars you alluded to so eloquently.

European settlers just figured they were better and therefore had the ‘right’ to destroy what they refused to understand. Kind of like the uneducated in society today.

          Boo frikin’ hoo

I moved to East Texas. Look it up its not anything at all as bad as LA county. Here we shoot guns in our back yards( its country lottts of land) as target practice, we hunt kids “squirl hunt” on a reg basis. We dont have gang banging f* tards driving up to people on the street saing “who you bang with” the shooting them down. And as for the indian thing, yes they killed eachother and white men killed them as they killed the white men. Look up vanzant co tx and chief bowles the ” whites” shot him once he fell off his horse and then the man stood over him and shot him in the head. Then they wouldnt let the body be moved, AT ALL,it layed in the open untouched for years an years before the remains were finaly “burried”. Bottom line none of the dumb a” people in this world should have the access to guns. I come from the hood, and the streets of socal & LA i know what its all about and how easy it to get your hands on things you prob dont need. However, i can say from what i have had go on, the cops in palmdale/lancaster are a joke, they are so limited by the “law” you call them they come and by”law” theres nothing they can do. Hey R.REX let your cops handle the crime like they know how, and clean up your city! Most of all to every single person , ONLY YOU ARE RESPONSABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS, NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU DO ANYTHING. IF YOU GET MAD ENOUGH TO KILL THATS YOUR FAULT FOR LETTING YOURSELF GET THAT MAD, ALSO WORDS TO THINK ON…BEFORE embarking on a quest of revenge, first dig 2 graves

The shooter isn’t the brightest bulb maybe? Wits knew his name. Facts are sparse in that story. Saturday night, it was a party, kind of a rundown looking neighborhood [I looked up 1600 E. Q-6 on google maps]… Conclusions: 1) don’t party drunk with a handgun nearby if you aren’t the brightest bulb. 2) if people that aren’t the brightest bulbs are partying drunk with handguns nearby go somewhere else. Don’t say goodbye, just go… especially if a fight breaks out. You aren’t wearing kevlar to a party so just go. You’ll thank me!

Its mainly a cultural shift, increased transportation, and just more people.

AV is getting browner too……..are browner communities safer, more prosperous, stable, in the USA, is a question best answered by statistics and historical examples.

Maybe just move to the West side…….open desert there has slowly been converted to a safe mecca based on wealth and similar demographics. Not 100% there safe there, but less crime.

Remember the golden rule – when people have more to loss they are less likely to destroy/damage their and other peoples lives.

      • Joe says

        October 19, 2014 at 9:05 pm

Ah yes the West side, a safe mecca based on wealth and similar demographics, where no one hears about all the crime out there, because then everyone wouldn’t think it’s a safe mecca based on wealth and similar demographics.

        • C. Barmisian says

          October 20, 2014 at 5:27 am

The West End is not that populated Joe Shmoe. Thats the main reason. Plus high end planning in some sections of the West end helps create less social friction. Plus similar demographics helps too.

The East End is also pretty peaceful but its lacks the multi-million dollar investments that West Palmdale/Lancaster receive. So the quality of life is a lower (less consumer oriented amenities).

Less congestion usually means less visible problems. But Human problems are everywhere.

          • Joe says

            October 20, 2014 at 9:24 pm

Thank you for agreeing with me. The West side has just as much crime as the East side.

      • Fred Smith says

        October 20, 2014 at 5:43 am

The West End isnt any safer. Just as much negative BS there like other areas in the AV. The only difference is that the WEST END has less people per square mile in certain areas as a whole and sees more multi-million dollar concentrated investments and its newer.

You’ll find negatives in every place in America. From churches to police stations from street to street. Its mainly cultural. Just look up crime stats for Japan compared to the USA.

Average age of a Male, USA 36.3, Japan 44.8.

May have something to do with that.
