PALMDALE – Authorities need the public’s help to identify the driver who struck a 45-year-old man in Palmdale Wednesday night and then fled the scene.
Around 7:32 p.m., personnel from Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded to the fatal collision on Avenue T, east of 70th Street East, according to Detective Brent Bunch.
“The preliminary facts of this investigation indicate a pedestrian, male age 45, was walking west bound on Avenue T in the west bound lane of traffic,” Bunch stated. “Another vehicle driven by an unknown person was also westbound on Avenue T.”
The vehicle, described as a “1999-2009 GMC”, struck the pedestrian as he was in the westbound lane of travel, Bunch stated. The unknown driver left the scene without stopping or checking on the pedestrian.
The pedestrian, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department Paramedics. He was a Palmdale resident, according to Bunch.
Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call Detective Brent Bunch at the Palmdale Station Traffic Department at 661-272-2400.
Avenue T was closed to routine traffic between 62nd Street East and 80th Street East until approximately 1 a.m. while the incident was being investigated.

Hey anonymous you should really keep your mouth shut. He was one of Gods children. Don’t judge. George was alright in my book. Sure he was going through some hard times. But he didn’t have to die such a tragic death. RIP Ricky Martin….

Just found out it was a friend of ours! Wow!!! I read this article and thought of him and now confirming it was (speechless)!! Too many deaths counts in the Anteleope Valley is just F***ed up! Its the reckless drivers and ignorant civilians that keep making this city the S***Hole it’s becoming! What is wrong with ppl! There’s No Love or Respect in this City!
Monique says
So sad. Hope they find the person responsible. May he rest in peace.
Jenny says
I am so disturbed by this. If someone has no means of transportation, whether it be their own vehicle, a ride, or money for the bus, this place does not cater to pedestrians. The only person at fault here is the heartless person who hit this man and fled the scene. I have been living in Littlerock for the past 3 years and this place just keeps disappointing me. My father and I saw the victim’s body and pulled over. I was shocked that only we and another car pulled over. Before the paramedics arrived, people would just stare and keep driving. What the hell is wrong with people here? You see a body and you just keep driving!????? This place needs a facelift from the ground up. Priority here is to care for one another and ask the city to stop repaving small streets and put streetlights on these dark roads that idiots love to race on. Please slow the [removed] down, please.
Shelly says
Thank you so much for what you did to my uncle god bless you
J says
I live in Littlerock and have driven right by that spot at night. It is poorly lit and it would be hard to see somebody walking in the road if you were not expecting them to be there…Why would anybody walk in the road when there is a car coming unless they are high or drunk…?
M says
How would anyone hit another person and keep driving? It seems like you’re trying to say it was okay that this person hit, killed, and left this man.
J says
That is NOT what I meant…I am just saying people should use their heads and not walk out in the street at nighttime on a unlit road where you can’t be seen! As somebody else said, walk towards oncoming traffic so you can see and be seen, and walk on the side of the road…there is plenty of room on that street. It is NOT ok that the person who hit them left the scene…Maybe they had no license or insurance…
Manny saints says
Working in the medical field we see this a lot… please people.. if you must cross the street in the dark.. “don’t walk” RUN..wear light or bright colors… try avoiding heavy traffic areas…Keep your selfs safe….
callitasitis says
Most likely another DUI driver or distracted driver(cellphone). it is hard not to see a person walk IF you are paying attention to drivings even is a dark area
NoPropagandaPLZ" says
Zero proof that this is a DUI. Almost all car accidents DON’T involve DUI. I have been driving many times at night and a bicyclist or person walking was very difficult to see and only noticed them at the last second. Fatigue, night vision issues, lack of street lighting, or a host of other scenarios can end like this.

L.A. County is becoming the pedestrian hit & run capital of the Country
gt says
SO SAD! RIP …..and Please find this scum bag who hit him and sped off!! Makes me wonder if it was the same person that hit and killed the woman ( I think her name was Gloria) in Little Rock about a month ago???? That also was a hit & run…..This is like what? the 3rd or forth person who has been killed at the side of the rode in the last month!….wtf is goin on??
renate says
that’s my thoughts exact, as I saw this new article…WTH is going on in this valley, it’s like they are playing points or something…
Cary says
Not “side of the rode (road)”, but rather “IN TRAFFIC LANE”, and in the dark. I Agree with the WTF part.
DK says
Exactly….What is going on. Also, these pedestrians are walking on or near the road in the dark with their back to on coming traffic. Hint: If you are going to walk down a dark road in the dark….walk so you are facing the on coming traffic so if that driver coming at you doesn’t see you or is coming too close you the pedestrian can save yourself and get out of the way.
