PALMDALE – The Palmdale toddler who was allegedly beaten and tortured by his mother and her boyfriend has died.
Anthony Lee Wilson was pronounced dead at 1:26 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 5 at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, according to Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Baby Anthony died a week after his second birthday.
An autopsy is still pending, however, the case is being investigated as a homicide, Winter said.
Baby Anthony suffered great bodily injury, allegedly at the hands of his mother, Rosie Lee Wilson, and her boyfriend, Brandon Jerel Williams, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The alleged abuse occurred between June and August of this year, said Deputy District Attorney Theodore Swanson.
Sheriff’s detectives have released little information about the case. However, friends of the couple said Wilson took her son to the hospital on Aug. 22, and she said the baby slipped and fell.
“It was discovered he had older bruises, and after being confronted, the boyfriend admitted to punching the baby…” said a friend of the couple, who asked not to be identified.
The boyfriend, 24-year-old Williams, was arrested around 8:22 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22; and Wilson was arrested about five hours later, according to LASD inmate records.
Days later, Wilson and Williams were each charged with assault on a child becoming comatose, torture and mayhem. Williams was also charged with one count of attempted murder and Wilson with one count of child abuse. At the time, Baby Anthony was on life support in critical condition, according to the prosecutor.
The couple appeared in an Antelope Valley courtroom on Aug. 26, but arraignment was postponed to Sept. 9 and then again to Oct. 14.
Charges against Wilson and Williams are expected to be amended before their arraignment next week, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
Each remains jailed on $2 million bail.
UPDATED 10/10/14: Criminal charges were amended Oct. 9 in connection with the death of Anthony Lee Wilson. Rosie Lee Wilson and Brandon Jerel Williams are now charged with murder, assault on a child causing death and torture. Arraignment is set for Oct. 16.

They are obviously not capable of doing their job..look at what happened to little Gabriel Fernandez. Call, protest, go to your major do whoever you need to call to make these changes. Those poor children are depending on you normal, caring citizens to save them because CPS already has blood on their hands in your county and is not doing what needs to be done. I will never in my lifetime understand how a girl/woman/female can go 9 months carrying a baby inside her womb and then do something so horrific like this after they are born whether it be days, weeks or years later!?…if you don’t want the responsibilities of having a child do the right thing and place them up for adoption immediately or surrender your rights to someone who will step up and take care of them…With all of the recent cases of abuse and neglect I feel like they need to extend the Safe Surrender Program to include not just newborns but young infants, toddlers and possibly any child because our system as it is now is failing from the DCFS to the Courthouses…The questions that remain unanswered are…Where was the biological father!? It seem be happening more often or just hitting the news cycle more, not sure which one is it. My question is where, were the family members involved in this child life. Was DCFS is involved? The family members who look the other way are also responsible for this child death. Did drugs /alcohol play a part to this deadly behavior? As I have seen in other tragedies listed in the news.
