I used to go there many many years ago, when we could drive the Santiago Canyon trail. The South District of the California Association of 4 Wheel Drive clubs built Basin Campground, using State OHV funds and hundreds of hours of free labor. That was a fun time. We could access the off highway trails right from camp. We also did several conservation projects too. We built gabions along the creekbed to prevent erosion.

But that canyon is closed because of the Arroyo Toad, which “just happened” to be found by a biologist. That trail and the Alimony Ridge Trail were great trails back then. It’s too bad they aren’t accessible now.
Hope you all have fun in the mud and water.

Thank you, thank you, thank you – to all of our area leaders involved with this decision!! I am not a 4×4 Mud Nut, but I used to take my kids to the dam to watch and we all loved the fun! We used to walk down to the waters edge, off to the side of where the Mud Runners were, to let the kids play in the water after walking knee deep (sometimes) in the nearby mud. They (we) really loved it!!

It will be great to have the Dam area as a family recreation center once again!!

Ah yes, but Little Rock Dam is correct. Look it up. Please don’t be a grammar Nazi until you know what you’re talking about LOL!

The town of “Littlerock” is one word, however “Little Rock” Resevoir is two words!
