PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s Thursday Night on the Square (TNOTS) event will go out in style for 2014 with an evening of pre-Halloween costume fun and Latin rock music this Thursday, Aug. 14, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at Poncitlán Square (9th St. East between Ave. Q-9 & Ave. Q-10).
“The theme of the evening will be “Scares on the Square,” said Palmdale Recreation Supervisor Annie Pagliaro. “Kids don’t have to wait until Halloween to dress in costume. Come join the fun, wear your costume and play the Musical Monsters game, create your own mini-mummy, vampire lollipop and creepy pinecone spider.”
Latin rock music will be provided by longtime Antelope Valley favorites Boulevard Knights.
Now in its 14th year, TNOTS offers free live music, enticing food, free City activities for kids and an open-air market featuring specialty items. Each week, one lucky person caught “green-handed” – disposing of recyclable and non-recyclable waste in the proper container – will win a prize, courtesy of Waste Management.
Free entertainment and activities include:
- Live music in the gazebo until 8:30 pm, sponsored by Valleywide Dental;
- The Game Garden featuring a variety of board games for all ages;
- The Children’s Art & Activity Center, open while supplies last;
- Camp TNOTS, featuring guest storytelling at 6:30 and 7:30 pm; Easel Art, Origami Creatures, Washi World & Rockin’ Art.
The Children’s Art & Activity Center and Camp TNOTS are for children age 12 and under. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Pets are not permitted and alcohol is not allowed.
