PALMDALE – A 25-year-old Lancaster woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI Sunday after she slammed her SUV into a van and injured four people, including a teenager who sustained life-threatening injuries.

The suspected drunk driver was in a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer headed northbound on 47th Street East when she collided into the left side of a Dodge Caravan that was traveling westbound on Avenue S, according to Deputy J. Health of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.

The crash caused the Dodge Caravan to spin out of control.

A 17-year-old boy was ejected onto the pavement and he sustained life-threatening injuries, according to Heald. Other occupants of the Dodge Caravan included a 22-year-old Lancaster resident who sustained serious internal injury; a 20-year-old Palmdale resident who suffered shoulder pain; and the driver who suffered injuries to her neck, shoulders and back, according to Heald.

The Chevrolet spun and rolled over on its roof, but its driver was not injured. She was arrested for felony DUI causing injury, according to Heald.

Officials have not released the names of the parties involved in this collision.

This incident remains under investigation by the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station traffic detail.

Ever been to a Cop-Bar? Some of the biggest alcoholics I know are cops. Who is their designated driver at 3am? Just asking?

‘m family of the victim in this terrible accident. I thank everyone for your prayers and for those who question more the hour he was coming home, please keep those comments to yourself. We are suffering deeply and the least of our worries is that, drunk drivers are heartless selfish beings that dont care about themselves and specially not about others. I want to ask everyone who is supporting us to please share the link below on any and all social mefias to help us through this nightmare. Again thank you and much love.

My prayers goes out to both family’s. If no one was drunk what caused the accident?
Also why do the police think this was caused by a drunk driver.? Does anyone have the true facts of this accident.?

My nephew was the victim that flew out the vehicle. He still in intensive care. All the families are in shock. It’s unbelievable were all praying this ends the right way. My nephew and his friend both recover well they got their whole life in front of them and for a worthless drunk driving person that made them suffer has no right to live. I really hope she gets what she deserves. Unfortunately the laws here allways protect the wrong people and identities.

“flew out the vehicle” I would assume he had no seat belts on. Had he been properly secured he wouldn’t have flew out the vehicle.

Unfortunately ignorance is a factor but drunk driving takes the prize. Ignorant people always look for a excuse. An dumbandblind is one of those with ignorance.

yes it matters Missy. cause the driver of the mini van is also Negligent for allowing any of her passenger ride without proper restraint. so call people ignorant and close your eyes at the reality. both parties need to learn from this sad incident. If Maria was to get pullover she had been cited as well has the passenger that got ejected. everyone needs to take this and learn something. to avoid any future tragedies. So please Friends don’t let friends drive under the influence and friends don’t let anybody ride unbuckled.

This story is wrong. My cousin was in the car crash too. There was 2 boys and 2 girls in the crash. Both boys are 17 (one of them is my cousin) theyre both in Intensive care. Both of the girls are fine they just had minor injuries. The girl in the SUV is 16 and was super drunk. So shes getting alot of charges. Thank you guys for your prayer.

Residents seem to be more concerned about their right not to be searched, than making sure everyone is in seat belts and the driver is not under the influence. Sad commentary. Farewell Common Sense. Innocent and young people are dying and all they say is RIP, let’s have a car wash.

Read what I just wrote. They’re young adults hanging out, something everyone has done at that age. Now the question should be Why was a person driving,,DRUNK.?

          • Mr me says

            July 16, 2014 at 4:06 pm

Read this Pam. Driving is a privilege not a right. and Driving has certain responsibilities so don’t played down the role of the driver of the mini van. if you can not adhere to the rules don’t drive’ and in regards to the drunk driver. she didn’t make a mistake . she made a bad choice. just like making the choice of not buckling up. young kids need to realise that the insurance companies charge your parents way more cause many of you guys make wrong choices and cause a lot of injuries and deaths. so open your eyes you’re not indestructible.

          July 7, 2014 at 9:29 pm

I think the real question should be why is someone drunk driving?? In the situation your question about why is there 17 years old out at a certain hour is kinda ridiculous and offensive to the family of this teen.

          • Maria says

            July 7, 2014 at 11:44 pm

I don’t think alma was trying to offend the family. The truth of the matter is we don’t have control over drunk drivers. I may be beating a dead horse when I say this but there are dangerous hours of the night. “Drunk driving involvement in fatal crashes in 2011 was 4.5 times higher at night than during the day (36 versus 8 percent)”- See more at: http://www.madd.org/drunk-driving/about/drunk-driving-statistics.html#sthash.ir9rjFSp.dpuf

Right and I agree with you Maria, but still her comment is unnesesary I feel. I do feel that it is offensive to the family, I can only imagine what they are going through right now. She should have kept her comment to herself. God forbid she was ever in this type of situation, I bet she wouldn’t have made that comment. The only person we need to be pointing a finger at is the drunk driver regardless of the situation or what time it is. There are people that have to leave their home at dangerous hours of the night to go to work, what are they supposed to do?

Why would someone with epilepsy be driving? Sounds like the DMV should look into this.

        • Pam says

          July 7, 2014 at 8:56 pm

There are several types of epilepsy, there’s acute and chronic. This medical condition does not restrict in this case my sister from driving. Also this medical condition is controlled by medication. It’s like saying that, that girl is allowed to drive drunk.

Epilepsy is NO longer considered a disability. At least 2 of my friends currently have this disorder and have been fighting for disability and according to the DMV and Social Security Admin. Epilepsy IS NOT a disability…
Hoping against hope thhis DRUNK DRIVER will find their way into the rooms of AA rather than behind another vehicle…

Last results from Palmdale DUI checkpoint:

      The results are as follows:

      *762 vehicles through the checkpoint.

      * 762 drivers checked at the checkpoint.

      * One suspended / revoked driver was arrested and sent to court.

      * Four unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court.

      * One vehicle was impounded for 30 Days.

      * Four vehicles were released per checkpoint release procedures.

      Does this seem to work??????

HERE IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE CHECKPOINTS. I TOTALLT AGREE WITH THEM AND THERE SHOULD BE MORE BUT THERE IS A GROUP OUT THERE THAT IS HELL BENT AND DETERMINED TO WARN PEOPLE OF THE CHECKPOINTS. I HAVE SEEN THE DATA FROM BEFOR AND AFTHER THESE PEOPLE STARTED WARNING OTHERS AND IT HAS DROPPED OFF DRASTICALLY BECAUSE OF THE WARNINGS. THEY WILL STAND MORE THAN 1/2 MILE AWAY TO LET OTHER KNOW TO TURN AROUND BECAUSE OF THE CHECKPOINTS WHICH ALL THE DUI AND OTHERS DRIVING ILLEGALLY WILL AVAIOD THEM. IF THEY WANT TO PROTEST IT THATS FINE THIS IS AMERICA AND THEY HAVE THAT RIGHT BUT DO IT AT THE CHECKPOINT NOT 1/2 MILE AWAY. THEIR ONLY CARE IS THAT ILLEGAL DRIVERS DONT GET THEIR CARS TAKEN AWAY. THEY ARE SO WORRIED ABOUT, ILLEGAL ALIENS HERE ILLEGALLY AND DRIVING WITHOUT LICENSES/ INSURANCE AND ALOT OF TIMES UNREGISTERED VEHICLES WHICH IS ALL AGAINST THE LAW, HAVING THEIR VEHICLES TAKEN AWAY THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE DUI OUT THERE THAT COULD BE CAUGHT AND OTHERS THAT ARE RUNNING FROM THE LAW THAT MAY GET CAUGHT IN THESE CHECKPOINTS. THAT IS THEIR ONLY WORRY WHO CARES ABOUT THE DUI AVOIDINT THE CHECKPOINT AND GOING ANOTHER WAY AND NOT GETTING CAUGHT WHO WINDS UP AND RUNS A STOP SIGN AND KILLS SOMEONE. THAT IS NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM SOMEONE KEEPING THEIR CAR IS MORE IMPORTANT TO THESE PEOPLE THAN SOMEONE LIFE

My prayers go out to the family of this kid. Unfortunately I know the child that is in a critical state. It pains me that these drunk drivers are so irresponsible, they don’t realize the consequences of their actions. And what angers me the most is that nothing ever happens to the damn drunk driver!!! They get to live while other innocent lives are lost.

Lately people are getting bolder and bolder with alcohol. Driving drunk is not the way. The examples are all the injuries and loss of life because of it. The police should start doing random checks if drivers are on the road at 3am.those are hours for law breakers. I go to work around that time during weekdays but would not have a problem if I get pulled over.

You’ll be complaining the rest of your life wherever you go and you’ll sincerely believe it’s because of outside circumstances.

Wherever you move or have moved to, you’ll find something to whine about. I guarantee it.
