PALMDALE – Fire suppressions teams in Palmdale responded to more than 100 firework calls, issued dozens of citations and confiscated hundreds of pounds of illegal fireworks on the Fourth of July, according to a press release from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station. Read it below:

On Friday, July 4th, three separate fire suppression teams from the Palmdale Sheriff Station along with Code Enforcement Officers patrolled the City of Palmdale to cite individuals for possessing illegal fireworks. The majority of the Palmdale citizens engaged in safe firework fun by using city approved “Safe & Sane” fireworks. Unfortunately a small percentage of citizens chose to use illegal fireworks which resulted in a hefty fine of $2,500.

[On July 4] the fire suppression teams responded to 106 firework calls, issued 34 citations and confiscated approximately 300lbs of illegal fireworks. The confiscated fireworks were taken to Fire Station 129 for disposal.

Sgt. Bistline of the Palmdale Sheriff Station who has assisted with the fire suppression teams for the past 11 years stated, “The use of illegal fireworks in Palmdale is still high but significantly down from the past years.”

The Palmdale Sheriff Station would like to remind the residents of Palmdale that discharging fireworks [any time after 12 p.m. Saturday, July 5] will subject the violators to fines.

To report illegal fireworks anonymously, call the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at 661-272-2400.

Antelope Valley is quite possibly the slowest, dimmest, no-opportunity having, paranoid, hillbilly, right-wing, shothole in all of Los Angeles County. This place is so sad people don’t come here-they reluctantly end up here . A place where dreams come to die. Utterly pathetic on EVERY level. As in living in the housing projects in South Central LA or Compton is a much better option.

That would explain how someone as kooky as the Lancaster mayor could ever get elected. It has to be due to some sort of less than normal collective intellectual capacities.

It was like Beirut where our party was in Palmdale (27th East and S).. Fireworks going off all around us, even RIGHT in front of us (the neighbor had the “good stuff”).

    :-)

All was fun, all was safe, nobody got hurt and we had a hell of a time.

Celebrating July 4th with Hezbollah is extremely unpatriotic….

It’s always best to use safe and sane fireworks when celebrating Mexico’s Independence!

Yeah I guess the sheriff’s propaganda machine thinks we are all tools. I haven’t seen that much celebrating since the late 90’s here on the east side. For some reason everyone was in a great mood too this year. Many of us went walking to other streets in the neighborhood towards the bigger parties and we were welcomed and made some new friends.
One patrol car slowly rolled by on the main street, and saw what must have seemed like a giant block party and just kept rolling by.

Get over it! The city can’t take your money if you don’t break the law. These 34 people KNEW the laws, but chose to be “cool” and have an illegal show because safe and sane fireworks just weren’t enough. I don’t feel bad at all, nor am I mad at the city. The city was just cashing in on the lawbreakers, not the innocent.

          Hey Turd!
Comments seem to be more concerned about your delivery than your message. With the Eye in the Sky, every single Lancaster Fireworks display shoulda/coulda been tacked. I agree Turd, what a waste of money and nobody seems to care. People should be more concerned about paying for services that they are not getting.

I’m sure the suppression teams were very busy, however it was more than a “small percentage” of citizens shooting off the illegal fireworks. Sat up at the aqueduct while fishing and watched the HUGE illegal fireworks show all across the valley from the west side to beyond littlerock! There actually seemed to be MORE fireworks this year than years past! One thing we DID NOT hear though was the fire engines; thankfully there didn’t seem to be as many fires. It’s just a shame that the citizens of the Antelope Valley do not want to obey the laws, it’s that old feeling of entitlement, I suppose. Perhaps there would be less illegal fireworks if they brought back the fireworks show at the High School?

Having 2 fireworks shows in Lancaster hasn’t made a dent in the use of illegal fireworks. We had 3 illegal shows on our street alone. The sky’s were all lit up. Knuckleheads are gonna blast them with show going on or not.

They missed the Littlerock fireworks show. Nice sized air bursts and ground fireworks even though it is a ZERO fireworks county zone.
Loud music until 4 AM with all sorts of explosive booms mixed throughout. Even heard some going off last night, Sunday.
