PALMDALE – A 58-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a jeep, authorities said.
The fatal collision happened around 3:30 p.m., July 1, on Sierra Highway just north of Avenue P, according to Detective Brent Bunch of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.
The motorcyclist was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson northbound on Sierra Highway, when he slammed into a 1989 Jeep Wrangler driven by 62-year-old Palmdale resident Osmond Jornadal, Bunch stated.
“The vehicle driven by Mr. Jorndal ran out of fuel and was stranded in the northbound lanes with his hazard lights on. The motorcyclist collided into the rear of Mr. Jorndal’s vehicle and was thrown from his motorcycle,” Bunch stated.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department Paramedics.
His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
UPDATED 7/2/14

I apologize for posting late. I’ve been on vacation and returned to work today and was told Dave was killed on his scooter. Total shock. Dave and I would park our scooters next to each others and talk “Harley’s” or just BS. Dave loved his scooter, he talked Harley’s all the time, he will be truly missed. Ride free bro.

Unfortunately, I am all too familiar with the driving habits of the man in the jeep. His driving privileges should have been revoked a long time ago. This accident could have been avoided.
Lex says
Agreed.
To Dave’s family, I am so sorry for your loss. It truly angers me that your family is suffering because of the negligence of this man. Yes – I say negligence because I, too, have witnessed the jeep driver and his absentminded tendencies. I realize that divulging this information will not bring Dave back, but I am confident that he was not at fault. I pray that some insight may prevent the loss of another innocent life.

Dave was a friend from far back, I’m sorry to hear of your lose. Dave was a great person, my prayers and condolences to you and your family.

Danielle, i dont know you but am so grateful that you and your mother stopped to try and comfort Dave. Dave was a sweet, kind, funny man, and was my soon-to-be daughter-in-law’s father. She was his only child and we had all just spent a wonderful weekend with the whole family celebrating her college graduation. I hope she doesn’t mind me pointing out that her name is also Danielle. You truly are an angel for stopping and trying to help.

For those of you who didn’t know Dave, he was a wonderful man, Husband and Father. Dave and I hung out together at our Daughters soccer games , enjoyed Barbeques at he and his wife’s home ,drank a few beers and ate hamburgers together. A real classy guy with a great sense of humor. Even though we lost touch after the soccer was over, I thought of him frequently because he left such an impression on me. Dave was the kind of guy everybody wanted at their party, just a good guy. A real loss, my aches when I think about the pain his family is going through. I will see you again some day my friend ,I love you like a brother. To his wife and daughter , I am so sorry for your loss. Godspeed Dave

Dave made such an impression on my husband back when they worked for K.V.I. In the late 80’s…He invented the term “code blue” when Dick was coming back to the shop.. that meant “maintain and get back to work” a term we used all the way up to when Dick passed away in June 2012. We vividly remember hanging out with him and Pam in their R.V. During the Rose Parade in 86’/87′. We are both so sad to hear that he is gone! He turned Rob on to motorcycles and we know that he loved them, from Yamaha’s to Harley’s and all bikes in between! Our thoughts, prayers, and memories are vivid and present… Thank you Dave for being there!! Rest in peace, my friend! Theresa, please know that we are with you in spirit as well as all of the people he touched in his lifetime!!

My grandson and I witnessed the aftermath of this tragic accident. Our prayers go out to the family of both the victim and the man in the jeep. This is tragic for both sides and the man in the jeep felt the loss of a life as well you could see it in his face as we drove by how heartstricken he was. May the Lord help guide you through the next days to come. RIP

My mother and I witnessed this horrible accident. We rushed to be by his side. We tried to help in any way we could. I just wanted him to feel that he wasn’t alone. Having lost my own father in a motorcycle accident, i can only hope that some kind person stayed with him in his final moments. We don’t come into this world alone and we should never have to leave it that way either. My prayers to his family. I feel your heartache as I relive the pain of losing my own father the same way. May God bless your family and ease your pain. Please know he was not alone. We stayed by his side until the very end.

Danielle. You are a true angle for stopping to help the fallen motorcyclist in need. I met you at the scene, you showed so much heart for the fallen motorcyclist. I was the motorcycle rider that stopped to help. I wanted to help in any way I could. I saw he was being taken care of by a true angle that you are. God bless you and your Mother for being there for this tragic time. I have asked myself time after time why this had to happen. He is in a much better place now. RIP Dave.

May he R.I.P and ppl if u know ur damm car has no fueel y keep pushing to drive sometimes cars parked on the side of the road with hazard lights on look like their moving when their not my condolences go out to his family.
Reel One says
They’re called HAZARD lights for a reason. Out of gas, engine dead, flat tire, transmission shot, feeling ill… what difference does it make? Hazard lights mean there’s something you need to be aware of, so you should slow down and/or move over.
Sad story.
Raymond says
I agree. The guy in the jeep was stopped in the left hand lane sitting in his jeep with his arms crossed. When any vechice is in an active lane and not moving it is difficult to judge and the hazard lights are not bright. If your vechicle quits for any reason at least coast to the shoulder.
mary says
I would understand if his car broke down but no gas come the [removed] on he knew he didnt have gas y keep pushing ur car knowing damm well ur gonna get stuck in the middle of the road and honestly sometimes the sun is so bright u cant see the hazards on until ur so damm close to the vehicle even braje lights u cant see ppl can say what they want but this dude knew he didnt have gas
CB says
Maybe the next time we see someone stranded on the road we could offer some assistance. Another sad accident like this could easily be avoided.

Really? Blaming the Jeep driver?
