PALMDALE – Local residents are invited to learn about crime trends in their neighborhoods, disaster preparedness, home security and more at a Neighborhood Watch Orientation presentation in Palmdale next week.
Hosted by Palmdale’s neighborhood services department, along with deputies from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station, the event starts at 7 p.m., Monday, July 7 in the Palmdale City Council Chamber, located at 38300 Sierra Highway, Suite B.
This informative orientation will answer questions about Neighborhood Watch and describe how it works and helps neighborhoods.
“Neighborhood Watch is the best and easiest way to learn about crime trends, disaster preparedness, home security and personal safety issues,” said Palmdale’s Crime Prevention Officer Kery German. “You’ll also see how easy it is form a Neighborhood Watch group and how little time it actually takes.”
In addition to helping to lower crime, the Neighborhood Watch program is effective in preparing for any type of emergency situation such as an earthquake or wildfire that may arise.
“It’s also one of the best ways to meet your neighbors and start building a sense of community,” said German.
For more information about the meeting or to learn more about Neighborhood Watch, call Palmdale’s neighborhood services department at 661-267-5170.

@ROGER JOHNSON
A Darwin M. Ochs from Lancaster wrote to the Valley Press a month or two ago saying we should take back our country with guns.
That was shortly before those 2 nutjobs shot 2 cops in Las Vegas after they had spent time at the Bundy ranch.
Yeah, that mentality is out there in the right wingers’ minds just waiting…..waiting for any excuse just like terrorists in the Middle East need the slightest excuse to attack an embassy or CIA post.
