Early Friday afternoon, hopefuls were already lined up outside The Main Event Banquet Hall on The BLVD to get an early start on the Fast & Furious 7 open casting call Saturday, June 21.

LANCASTER — The Main Event Banquet Hall, located at 731 W Lancaster Blvd, will be hosting an open casting call for “Fast & Furious 7” this Saturday, June 21.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and organizers are expecting a record turnout of people who will be auditioning for a chance to work on the movie set as a background extra.

Casting directors are seeking men and women, ages 18 to 30, of all races, shapes and sizes. They’re looking to cast about 2,000 people for the movie, which is set to premiere in 2015.

Filming will take place in the Lancaster/Palmdale area the week of July 7, 2014, according to Rich King Casting. (View an updated flyer for the local casting call here.)

Interested actors are asked to bring a 3×5 personal photo, a pen and a good attitude.

With thousands of actors from all over the United States expected to turn up for the casting call, the public audition will bring the largest crowd that the local banquet hall has ever hosted.

“It’s another event,” said Crystal Neal, CEO of the Main Event Banquet Hall. “It’s a big event, but that’s how we have to look at it. We have to take care of them just like we take care of our other renters.”

The venue is usually home to private, special events such as weddings, fashion shows and musical performances. Singer, writer and producer Ray J is just one recent celebrity guest to rent out the banquet hall.

When asked how Fast & Furious 7 directors picked her venue out of many, Neal said, “We have a lot [of] celebrities that rent here, but only God knows. I’m a Christian, so I believe God sent them here.”

The Main Event Banquet Hall has set up a Facebook page to keep background extra hopefuls updated on the casting call.

“This is a REAL event, we have already gotten several calls asking if it was a sort of hoax, or false ad[vertisement], and it is not… We are happy to be hosting this event!”  organizers stated on the Facebook page. (View it here.)

Poor Boulevard to nowhere. Seems the effort to make it succeed left just as fast as our leader’s profit were to be had.

      @Bob S.
If you really want to have that fabulous BLVD ‘experience’. Go back and view videos of Rex saying how wonderful it is.

-It’s the ‘heart of the Valley’

-It’s the safest place in the universe.

-I’m thinking of selling my big house and moving into one of the condos off the BLVD.
      -It’s ‘world class’.

And, so on. Rex said those kinds of things.

Loud rock music blasted all night ’til 5 AM today from downtown Lancaster. I live 2 blocks away and had electric guitar screaming in the windows at 4 this morning. Wonder if it was connected to this event, or, on Saturday and Sunday MOAH museum had a live band on its roof, and at 4 AM it sounded like they were still playing full blast, all through the night. Wonder what it was.
