PALMDALE – Zombies and teenagers are expected to take over Domenic Massari Park, 37716 55th St. East in Palmdale this Saturday, June 7 as the City of Palmdale hosts its inaugural Teen Summerscape event, featuring a “Zombie Run.”

The “Zombie Run,” hosted by the Youth Support Association (YSA), will begin at 9 am. The fee is $25 for adults and $15 for students, with proceeds benefitting YSA’s programs.  Registration will begin at 8:30 am.

Participants are encouraged to dress up in Zombie attire. Prizes will be awarded for “most kills,” best dressed, best couple and most modern zombie.

For the race, each runner will be given three life ribbons attached to their race bibs. Runners who cross the finish line with all three ribbons will be entered into a drawing for a top prize. Runners who cross with two or one ribbons will be entered into a drawing for a lower prize.

Zombies will be present all over the course and can chase down runners.

Waters and snacks will be available for runners and zombies.

Registration is available online at www.ysazombierun.webs.com or visit the www.avysa.org.

From noon to 4 pm, teens may enjoy the inaugural Teen Summerscape event. It will feature a fun zone, food vendors, booths by community groups and resources for teens. Admission to Teen Summerscape is free.

The Teen Summerscape event is being funded through the generous sponsorship of the Warnack Foundation, which donated $13,000 for the event.

“Our heartfelt thanks go out to the Warnack Foundation as they continue to provide financial contributions to various programs, activities and events for all our residents,” said Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford.
