PALMDALE – An anonymous tip about a marijuana grow led local deputies to an east Palmdale home Wednesday, where they shut down a sophisticated indoor grow operation and seized 71 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $140,000. Danny Quiroz and Luis Guillen were arrested during the raid, according to a press release from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station. Read it below:

On Wednesday, February 26th, at approximately 6 pm., the Palmdale PAC (Partners Against Crime) team served a search warrant at residence on the 38000 Block of 38th St East, in the City of Palmdale.

The case developed when PAC deputies received an anonymous tip regarding a marijuana grow in an East Palmdale residential neighborhood. After investigating the complaint by using departmental resources and training, deputies collected a sufficient amount of information to obtain a search warrant.

While searching the residence, deputies discovered a marijuana cultivation operation consisting of 189 marijuana plants in a downstairs bedroom and the garage of the residence. The bedroom and garage had been converted in to a sophisticated indoor, hydroponic “grow” which consisted of an intricate watering, ventilation and artificial lighting system. Deputies seized approximately 71 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $140,000.

During the search warrant, 24 year-old Pacoima resident Danny Quiroz and 28 year-old Arleta resident Luis Guillen were arrested. Both suspects were transported and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff Station.

Quiroz was booked on charges of Cultivation of Marijuana with a bail amount of $30,000. Guillen was booked on charges of Cultivation of Marijuana with a bail amount of $30,000. Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, February 28th at the Antelope Valley Court House.

Ok, so you guys are going after the potheads and not the immense amount of molestors, hate crimes & crystal meth dealers??? Thats the biggest problem out here is crystal meth and sex/hate crimes… The AV sherrifs dept needs to worry about bigger problems than some dudes growing pot in their own house and not bothering anyone… Bet theyll try and claim its for the mexican cartel too i bet :|… Clueless as hell… Btw, when are the local cops wearing cameras on em like the rialto PD??? You guys should do reports on their unlawfull arrest, incarcerations fpr no reasons and the way they treat people. Waste of my time reading this dribble.

You do realize that incarceration is not determined by the police right? The DA and the judge (and sometimes a jury) determine that.

So LASD shouldnt do anything about a crime being committed? This was just a little more that some guys simply growing marijauna. 71 pounds is quite a bit, but hey lets let that crime go unpunished because of some other crime happening.

…yet legal now in some States and Countries. A waste of LASD resources that is better spent in cleaning up the City of thugs, pedophiles, escaped parolees, child beaters, drunk drivers, burglars, rapists, etc, etc.

I certainly don’t care if it’s just a few folks growing pot but really, this size of operation is sure to be gang related and will attract all kinds of thugs to the neighborhood. I’m all for pot being legal for personal use but I’M NOT OK with a bunch of thugs gathering and causing trouble. I’ve had a situation like this near me and it was awful. If you own a house anywhere near things like this, you WILL suffer. Get a freaking permit, buy some land and grow your cops in an agricultural area NOT in a housing development.

Yet not legal here. The sheriff’s department is just doing their job. And as was pointed out, this was not for personal use, this was for distribution.

It is not mentioned in the report, but many times the people doing this will also steal utilities to not be noticed. That is a crime in and of itself.

What these guys did is not legal. People can’t just start grow-ops. If you have a business growing medical marijuana, you have limits as to how much you can grow and you have to pay taxes on your profits- just like any other legitimate business owner.
