Last year’s seven events are being eclipsed by the 15 events planned for this year’s Corporate Challenge. The February 22 run/walk is the only event which is open to the public.

LANCASTER –The second annual Lancaster Corporate Challenge kicks off this Saturday with opening ceremonies, a 5k run/walk, and a children’s 1k run/walk at American Heroes Park.

“Building upon last year’s success, we encourage organizations throughout the Antelope Valley to boost their health and physical fitness while building long lasting community ties through this fun and friendly competition,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris in a city news release. “Many different types of companies competed in last year’s events, resulting not only in great fitness for their organization, but camaraderie that can only happen when competing together.  This is a golden opportunity for companies to network and mingle with other organizations they would not otherwise interact with.”

The Lancaster Corporate Challenge is an Olympic-style series of sporting events organized by the Wellness Committee comprised of city staff. Challenges will take place from February 22 through June 7.

Fifteen events are planned for this year’s Corporate Challenge. The February 22 run/walk is the only event open to members of the public.

The event begins at Lancaster City Hall, located at 44933 Fern Avenue. Race day registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m.

The race will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the race route will travel through downtown Lancaster. The children’s 1K will take place following the 5K event.

How to register

The public is encouraged to participate in the fun 5K run/walk kick-off event. The 5k fees are $15 for pre-registered adults and $20 for day-of event. Children’s 1K fees are $5 for pre-registered participants and $10 for day-of event.
